It is 11 am right now and currently all my seniors are in the board room having a meeting. And me? well I am casually sipping my coffee, browsing through twitter looking at all the tweets celebrating Namjoon breaking his dry spell on fancafe, replying to a few fans. The last time he replied to literally ANYONE was a year ago so this is clearly a very big deal for us armys, and I admit although I am happy, I am also a little jealous because Lord knows how hard I have been trying to level up on the fancafe and man, is that thing tough! I swear I could've topped my University exams had I put this much of effort and dedication into it.
Absorbed in my dreamland with Bangtan, I had not noticed the meeting get over(Or so I thought) because I felt someone tapping my shoulder while I was busy zooming in on Joon's dimples. Fearing it was my boss, I quickly closed the tab and opened Excel. I don't particularly know what made me do that because I am a journalist, we don't really have much work in Excel but I guess my last 3 brain cells somehow thought that was what needed to be done. Anyway, I turned around, ready with an excuse for why I was doing what I was doing but instead I heaved a sigh of relief because it was Paul. Paul was also a new recruit in the company like me, he helps in shooting the videos and stuff. Him and I hit it off on the first day itself, he was a really cool guy and one of the first friends I made here.
"The boss is calling for you", he said yanking at my arm to make me get up from my seat
"Me? What for? I thought the meeting was over already!"
"How can it be over without you? Now stop talking and come with me! quick"
I took out my ID from the drawer and hung it around my neck. In that brief 1 minute walk from my work cubicle to the board room, I had a million thoughts race through my mind. What could they possible want me for? This meeting was meant for company seniors. I did not even know what it was about but what did Paul mean when he said "How can it be over without you"?
Paul, being the gentleman that he is held out the door for me while I entered the room. Immediately I could sense five sets of eyes on me. The cold air from the AC was not enough because I my palms already felt sweaty from nervousness.
"Sit down", my boss directed me. Briskly, I took the chair nearest to me and sat down. "As Paul must've mentioned we've run into a little problem. We have a cover story scheduled with a very popular musical group right now but Lauren here has some urgent domestic affairs to attend to. We know this is short notice and you've joined in only recently but Sarah, will you able to take Lauren's place and do the cover story?"
WHAT. WAS I JUST OFFERED TO DO THE COVER STORY FOR THE ROCKSTAR MAGAZINE ONLY 3 WEEKS INTO MY JOB??!?? WHAT DID I DO TO DESERVE THIS?! Since my joining, my daily tasks included bringing coffee for my mentor, sharpening pencils and arranging the flowers on his desk. To go from that to being offered to do the cover story for the magazine was definitely a big boost for my dwindling career that I was not willing to let go off so I quickly replied, "Yes!". I think I may have said that a few octaves higher because immediately I could see my boss' surprised look.
"Okay then. You can go home right now and pack your bags, make the necessary arrangements. It is a 5 day trip and your flight is at 4 AM. Paul will be accompanying you on this trip, taking photos and recording"
"Where are we going? More importantly, who am I interviewing?", I inquired. Technically this should have been my first question to ask but engrossed at the recent turn of events, I had forgotten to ask the most basic question. Not that it mattered much because at this point, I would be willing to interview even the most sought after criminal.
"BTS. In a few hours you will be in Seoul"
