YOU DON'T KNOW ME // G.D and T.B

Part 6

Tessa's POV:

"So what did you want to talk about?" I asked him, trying to break the silence between us.
"I'm not sure where to start, but how long have you been apart of the Mafia?"
"I've been apart of it my whole life, I started training when I was really young, so that if anything did happen to me, I would be able to protect myself."
"Has anything ever happened to you?" He asks as we start to pull over to a look out spot. He parks the car and turns to me. His eyes are staring at me with a pleading look, almost like he was scared that something has happened to me.
"Uhm, there has been a few things, but nothing I couldn't handle."
"What do you mean?"
"When I was about 13, one of our rival mafias broke into my house in the middle of the night and kidnapped me. When they kidnapped me, they held me hostage for a month, and tortured me." I looked up from my hands as I realized that I started going back into a dark place that I pushed to the back of my mind for years. Grayson grabs my hands and kisses both of them, and encouraged me to go on.
"I still have scars from when the tortured me, they're on my back and stomach. I still have a hard time talking about it, but since then I've grown as a person. I've learned how to protect myself against any situation so I never have to go through it again." At this point tears have escaped my eyes, and Grayson is wiping them away.

Grayson's POV:
I didn't know Tessa, and she was opening up to me in a huge way. She was so vulnerable, I didn't know how to help her, so I tried to comfort her the best that I could.

"Tessa, it's okay, I'm right here."
"I know, and I appreciate it. I never tell anyone that story, but I wanted to tell you so you know what you're getting in to by taking over for you Dad."
"I figured It would put my life at risk, but it's worth it."
We've been parked for a while, and we've been talking about her childhood and my childhood, and what I should expect for when we take over for our dads. I'll admit, I never would've guessed that Tessa had this side. She's so genuine and strong, and she makes me feel understood. Maybe this deal isn't such a bad thing...
