Prologue.

I snatched up my bag and started cramming as much inside as I could, t-shirts, tracksuit bottoms, hoodies, anything that feels comfy. Then I look outside the door, making sure no one is around then I shut it and turn the key making sure no one can get in.

I drop to the ground and lift up the patterned mat, which keeps anything hidden underneath it. I lift up the lock and turn the key which keeps the hole hidden. I lift it up revealing a box overloading with cash. I take it out and shove it into the bottom of the bag. I seal everything back up and push the overfilled bag under the bed. Waiting until the perfect moment to leave.

I unlock the bedroom door and walk down the stairs to where my last proper meal lies. Obviously no one else knows this but me. After tea, I tell my parents that I'll do the washing up and while that includes loading the dishwasher, I start to write a list of food I can take with me, and I gather a few things up, stashing them in a cupboard under the oven.

The next few hours go by quickly, just watching TV and pretending that everything is normal.

Because in less than three hours, I will be gone.
