17 years old Natalie Meyers dumbed her stuff into her bag carelessly, the only thing on her mind was leaving home. She was glad that her emancipation had worked out. She couldn't wait to be far away from her awful parents who would rather get drunk, use drugs and turn each other into punching bags than take care of their two daughters...the only thing Nat will regret was being so far away from her little sister, May. She turned just in time to see nine years old May by the door watching her with tears in her eyes. Nat gave her sister a sad smile
" come here, darling"
May ran to her sister and threw her thin arms around her
" don't go Nat, " she pleaded "don't leave me here with them!"
"I don't have an option may, I have to go. Its the only way I can get a decent job, make some money and come back for you"
"But.......what if they kill me before you get back?"
" they won't , my love. No matter how much of monsters they are, they'll never hurt their own child."
May looked her sister in the eye
" promise you'll come back for me?"
" I promise may, I'll not leave you here for long. I promise"
"Can I help you pack?"May asked, swiping gently at her tears.
Nat smiled at her " yes Darling, that would be wonderful"
They settled into their usual comfortable silence, each sister lost in her own thoughts. Nat was moving far away from her sister, the only person in this world that she truly loved. Old miss Alva's house was the only accommodation available and she had secured a job as a waitress in a cheesy restaurant called Bonnie's where she had 2 wear a tight White tank top and a ridiculously short pepper red skirt. The assemble was outrageous, but she had to start somewhere, right?
Most importantly, she was doing it for May. She had to get her sister out of this hell hole, no matter what.*****************************
