A week later the blonde finally walked into home room. She avoided all contact with Debbie and Tammy, not even bothering to look at the two girls she took a seat at the front of the room. She kept her head down and didn't even look up when the teacher walked into the room.
"Miss Miller, head up from the desk please," the woman said as she walked past her desk, gently knocking on it to gain the blondes attention.
Even though Debbie had only spent one day with the girl there was something pulling her towards Lou, she didn't want to give up on her. If it were anyone else the brunette would have probably ignored it and forgotten about them, but there was something about the Australian girl and she didn't want to leave her alone. She had a feeling Tammy didn't either.
"I wonder what happened, do you think we should talk to her after homeroom?" Tammy asked and Debbie was cut off by the bell ringing. The students got up from their desks and piled out, Debbie tried to keep her eye on Lou as much as possible but she bent down to pick her bag up and she was nowhere to be seen.
"Where did she go?" Debbie questioned and Tammy shrugged. The two made their way over to the door and they said their goodbyes and headed down opposite ends of the hallway. Luckily it was Monday morning meaning she had English and Lou was in that class and they sat beside one another. Maybe that was her chance to speak to the blonde girl.
But she wasn't in her spot instead she was at the table in the back corner of the room. Brave girl, Debbie thought because that was where Jennifer and her boyfriend sit so that they don't really have to pay attention to the class, they mostly spend the hour making out.
"What do you think you're doing?"
"Sitting at the desk? Is that not what it looks like?" Debbie heard Lou's voice dripping with sarcasm. She slightly shakes her head because everyone in the school knows not to mess with those two, including the teachers. The girl walked around the desk and stood behind Lou, Debbie was slightly scared for the girl because god knows what was going to happen.
Seconds later the blonde crashed onto the floor, because Jennifer pulled the seat from under her. Lou quickly got up from the floor and barged into the other girl as she made her way over to the only empty seat, which was next to Debbie.
"Are you okay?" Debbie questioned her tone laced with worry, because she didn't know what was going on with the blonde. They weren't exactly friends yet but Debbie wanted to be, and all Lou did was disappear.
"I'm fine," Lou sighed, she placed her head on the table like she did in homeroom and as soon as the teacher entered the classroom she was told to sit up straight.
"You can sit with us at lunch if you like," Debbie said and the blonde smiled gratefully, and the period went by quickly. Once the class was dismissed everyone left the classroom, and like in homeroom Debbie went to grab her bag but when she stood up again the blonde girl was gone.
By the time it was lunch period Tammy and Debbie were sat at their usual table outside, the pair waited for Lou for 20 minutes and she finally appeared through the door. She didn't have any lunch with her, her hair was messier than usual and she had a cut on her cheek. It wasn't very deep so it definately didn't need stitches but it still look like it stung. The blonde noticed Debbie's eyes fixated on the cut and positioned her hair so that it was covering it.
"What happened Lou?"
"Are you okay?"
Tammy and Debbie asked at the same time and a small smile crept onto Lou's face, probably because she didn't think that the girls wanted to speak to her after what happened a week ago, but here they were concern all over their faces. Lou looked up at the two and simply shrugged her shoulders.
