Scarlet's POV

"Get in here you dreadful girl!!"

My terrible godmother screeched. To tell you the truth, I have no clue whatsoever why my parents would trust this vile, deceitful woman to take of me after they had gone. My parents had passed long ago when I was just a child, unknowing of what lay before me. I got stuck with my godmother immediately after, never to see my real family again.

I had learned to love my surroundings as I grew, mesmerizing as they were. The village was quite glum at times, but I learned to deal with the fact everyone below was powerless, and the vain King and Queen controlled everything and everyone. The King and Queen lived a lavish existence, servants and guards trailing them wherever they traveled. The King took every coin in kingdom and kept them to himself so he could purchase all the things he just had to have like gold plates and crystal goblets. His son was just the same- an evil narcissist.

Always flittering about, smirking at everyone who bowed down to him.

As I sulked inside my godmother's house, quieting the tune I was singing to a hum, I spotted the prince searching the village streets for something.

Every time I saw him I got this feeling deep in the pit of my stomach-a feeling of strong hatred and and distaste fueled by his every smirk.
