"This isn't a good idea; we've already messed up the fabric of time enough," Remus said, the tip of his wand the only thing illuminating the room.
James's mother let them come over to the Potter House for Christmas break. They were in his room late at night. Peter was the only one passed out.
James grabbed his shoulders. "Moony, something's going on in another time and you just want to sit around when we can help fix it? Voldemort escaped to the 2000s and you except us not to do anything?" he asked.
"Well, you're not exactly the heroic type, Prongs," Sirius pointed out.
"While I can't deny that's true, this is different," he stated. "I grew attached to them... just by a bit. I hate the fact that I die before I get to know any of them."
"Aw, does Jamesy have a soft side?" Sirius teased, pinching his best friend's cheeks. James slapped his hand away. "Look, I just have a feeling in my gut that something's up!" he exclaimed.
Remus sighed, sitting on his own trunk. The light from his wand was now facing the floor. "We have to give that to him. His gut's usually never wrong."
"Thank you. Now, are you going to cast the spell or not?" he said, grabbing some travel equipment.
"It's your fault if we get in trouble," Remus mumbled. He stood up, and pointed his wand near the window. "Hospes Tempor Staminis!"
Light shined from the portal, and it was very bright. The three marauders quickly went inside it, but what they didn't notice, is that the fourth did as well.
James, Sirius, and Remus were already well away from the spot they landed in in 2018, where it was still the afternoon, leaving Peter all alone in the woods with no wand.

"A portkey?!" James II exclaimed. "They touched a portkey?! Where did it go?!"
"We don't know!" Albus groaned.
"How do you not know?!"
"Because I didn't even know it was a portkey!"
"Do you two ever shut up?!" Molly II yelled, causing them to stop bickering. She stood up from the rock she was sitting on, and walked over to them. "We're obviously going to have to call this off, because I can bet that portkey was Voldemort's doing."
You are correct, Molly Audrey Weasley, a hoarse voice said in their heads. All past tension quickly turned into fear and worry. The portkey was indeed my doing. Rose. Hugo. Lily. Lucy. Louis. Roxanne. Lysander. Lorcan. I have them all, and if you want them back, I suggest you surrender. Surrender or they are no more.
"We've got to save them!" Albus blurted afterwards. All the attention turned to him.
"Al, we're going to have to have a plan," James II said.
"Well, I know that," he spat back at his brother.
"Guys, stop," Harry said. "Yes, we're going to need a plan, but first we need to get the others."

The three boys were still walking through the forest, trying to find some place to say. Remus constantly kept telling them that they should've thought of a plan, but Sirius said they were the 'masters' at winging it.
Remus shushed the group, hearing voices, but they faded quickly. Footsteps could be heard crunching in the snow. He signaled for James and Sirius to change into their animagus forms quickly, and Remus took the Invisibility Cloak from their equipment bag and threw it over himself.
"James! Come on!" a girl, who they recognized as Molly II yelled.
"I could've sworn I heard something," James II mumbled. "Geez, I'm coming! Don't get your precious panties in a twist!" he yelled back at them.
"Knock it off, James," Harry said, "we need to find the others." With that, they apparated out.
Remus took off the cloak. James and Sirius were behind him, now humans once more. "I told you something was wrong!" James said.
Sirius grinned and patted James's stomach. "Got to trust the gut."
James have his friend a stern look. "Don't do that."
"But we don't know where they went!" Remus said.
"Probably to The 'Burrow,'" Sirius said, putting air quotes around "burrow."
"And do you know where that is?" Remus asked.
Sirius shook his head.
They all sighed. "Well, I bet we can find out. We know it's somewhere in Devon, England, because that's where Molly and Arthur said they were going to build a home when they had children," Sirius stated.
This time, James grinned. "Good to know you may attention. Off to Devon, then."
"Do you guys know how far away that is? It's got to be at least a hundred miles from the forest!" Remus exclaimed.
"Well, we do have magic," James pointed out. "Or if you want to ride a stag..."
Sighing, he got out his wand and tried to think of something to conjure. He finally thought of something, but when he tried, the light at the top of his wand snuffed out.
James and Sirius tried with their wands, with the same result. "Great, we're stuck here. Now how are we suppose to get there or even back home?" Sirius muttered.
"That deer-back ride is looking pretty good ride about now," Remus said, sighing.
