Chapter 1 (Third Person)

"William! Time to wake up! It's your first day of university, oh, I'm going to miss you so much, William!" A voice squealed as Sherlock groaned. He rolled out of bed and said, "Oh, do shut up, mother. I'm only gone for the rest of my life." Mrs. Holmes gasped sarcastically and grinned at her son. Sherlock scowled back in disgust, then got dressed in his regular black suit and favourite purple shirt. He didn't care how the other kids would react about his clothes, as long as they disliked it and stayed away from him.

He fixed his blazer and did the button while in front of his full length mirror. He frowned at himself and ruffled his hair. He despised his hair, and so did the other kids, so he was fine. Sherlock grabbed his suitcases and struggled down the stairs. He saw his mother and father waiting for him at the end of the staircase.

"Here, William, let me help you with that..." his mother said, coming up to help him. Then his father stopped her, putting his arm in front of her. "Let him do this by himself, since he's in university now. Isn't that right, William?" Sherlock nodded obediently as he wrestled the suitcases down the stairs. His parents waited silently for him until he was down.

"It's Sherlock, by the way."

"I'm sorry?" his father said confusingly.

"No one calls me William anymore. I hate it. I hate the name. My name's Sherlock." he responded.

"Alright then, Sherlock." his mother grinned. Sherlock furrowed his eyebrows. His parents went to the dining room while he put his cases next to the door. Nobody said a word at breakfast. Until Sherlock stood up. "What are you doing?" Mr. Holmes said.

"I'm going. Isn't it obvious?"

His father rolled his eyes at his son's sarcasm before he asked him, "Where's Alexander?"

Mycroft's head pops through the door saying "Morning mummy! Morning father!" He pulled an obvious fake smile and disappeared. All three of them stared at the door in silence.

"Well, got to get going..." Sherlock says, breaking the silence. He walked towards the door but felt someone's wrist grab his. "Will-" Sherlock turned towards his mother and frowned. "Sherlock. Take care of yourself. Please." she smiled gently but he gave her a false smile in return.

He grabbed his bags and yelled for his brother. "Mycroft! We have to go now or we'll be late!" He smirked at his brother as he fought the bags down the stairs. "Sherlock! Help me! You can't just stand there watching me struggle!" Mycroft yelled down the stairs.

"Oh, but I can, brother dear." Sherlock grinned at this brother as Mycroft glared back.

Sherlock took a step outside and took a deep breath. "Freedom..." he sighed.

"Hello, my name's Mrs. Hudson. I'm the university's chancellor. I will be helping you find your dorm room." the woman smiles at Sherlock, in which he does not return.

"Sherlock. Sherlock Holmes." he said, bored already. The place was clean, tidy and very spacious. How dull, Sherlock thought as he looked around. "Ah, room 221b. Well, you have a girl called Molly Hooper as your roommate." He glanced back at the the old woman then thanked her. Everyone was arriving today, so the university gave them two days off to get settled in before classes started.

By the time Sherlock got to his room, he didn't expect his roommate to already be there. "Hi! My name's Molly Hooper! You must be Sherlock." a girl with a brown ponytail. Sherlock stepped into the room and put his bags down on the floor before taking one look at the girl. "Yup," Sherlock replied, popping the p. She sat on the opposite bed of what he presumed was his.

Intelligent, aged 17-19, deceased mother and abusive father. An only child, girl with little or few friends, shy but friendly girl, owns a cat. Sherlock put his hand in front of him to shake hers and faced the girl. Molly took his hand and shook it back. "Well, I better get going. I'm going to meet up with a friend." She stood up and waved goodbye.

"Bye. Oh, Molly?"

"Yes?" the girl looked back at her roommate.

"You should tell her, you know."

"Tell her what?" Molly blushed immediately.

"You know what I'm talking about," Sherlock smirked.

"H-how did you know about that?" he grinned and took a step towards her.

"I don't know, I observe." Molly stared at her flatmate, obviously too confused to say anything. "You know, you have nothing to be ashamed of." Sherlock finally said.

"I'm sorry?" Molly said confusingly.

"I'm saying that I'm gay too, so you have nothing to worry about." he smiled.

Molly smiled back and reached for the door handle. "Well bye, Sherlock!"
