Michael's Point of View

Since Liz was paying for our lunch, we all decided to go straight to our favorite Italian restaurant. Much to my surprise, I was the first one there.

Sitting in my car I thought about Caitlin. She's the best thing that came into my life, I swear.

When I first met Luke and Caitlin we had been at the park. Luke and I were about 8, meaning that Caitlin was 7. Even at such a young age she was still the prettiest girl I'd ever seen. Luke was messing around with Calum playing some football, and Caitlin was just sitting alone on the swings watching. I thought I could try and show off by beating the boys at a game, but that just ended up with me falling to the ground scrapping my knee. I remember her running over to me, making sure I was okay. She was the first to introduce herself and ask me over to play with her.

Since then we've been bestfriends, and as far as she's concerned that's all we'll ever be. I just wish she'd see what a prick her boyfriend was, and how perfect her and I would be together. It just doesn't seem fair.

My thoughts are interrupted by a tapping on my window, "Hey man, are you coming inside? Everyone's here now."

It was Calum.

I nodded, getting out of my car. He had taken off his cap and gown to replace it with his normal black skinny jeans and t-shirt. I looked down at my attire and realized I'm still in my gown.

That's probably why I got here so early. I had on clothes underneath, so I guess I could just take this off.

"You okay Mike? You look a little confused." Calum laughed.

I glared at him, "Oh hush you Asian. I just forgot to take off my gown. I'm gonna go stick it in my mom's car. God knows it'd get lost in mine."

He nodded, "Okay man. Just find us when you get inside."

Calum walked off and I seen everyone else ahead of him. I slipped off my gown, folded it up, and walked towards mom's car. I put it in the backseat and headed towards the entrance.

The place smelled amazing. We've known the owner since she opened up the place, and we're probably her best group of customers. I rounded the corner only to bump into Caitlin.

She jumped and turned around, "Oh crap Mike. I'm sorry!"

"No, no. My fault," I chuckled. "Who are you looking for? Calum said everyone was here?"

She sighed and looked up at me, "I texted Harry and told him we were here incase he wanted to join, but I don't see him. I wouldn't want to see me either."

"What do you mean? Did something other than the kiss happen that you haven't told me?" I asked her, now a little confused. I thought we cleared all that mess up.

Nodding, she sighed, "We had a small argument this morning because I couldn't hang out this morning and now he isn't talking to me at all. Oh I'm the worst girlfriend, I swear."

I swear she got bonked on the head. Or maybe he did.

"Caitlin, you didn't do anything wrong. He's just being an asshole. Come on, let's go eat and get your mind off this for a little while. It'll make you feel better, promise." I smiled at her.

She smiled at me and we headed towards the tables. They had pulled together a few tables so we could all sit together. Our parents were all at one part of the table, leaving us to occupy the other parts. I pulled a chair out for Caitlin, and then sat down next to her.

I was sat across from Ashton who was sitting next to Sidney. I'd known Sidney almost as long as I have Caitlin. She would be at the Hemmings household almost as much as I was. She'd always been small and reminded me of a chipmunk on crack. She's always looked mostly the same too, only now her dark brown hair had streaks of red died into it. I met Ashton in the ninth grade when he moved here and sat next to me in math. I may not have spoken to him, but Sidney just went on and on about seeing him around school so I asked if he wanted to come hang with us one day. Now that I think of it, he and Sid haven't spent much time apart since.

Next to Sidney was Tyler. She was smiling and laughing at something dumb Luke had said. They had been together for as long as I can think of. As kids they'd always flirted and let me just say I called the relationship.

"Hey Mikey, how about you stop staring at everyone and join in on some conversation!" Luke shouted, throwing his straw paper at me.

I shook my head, "Aye, I'm trying to reminisce while I still can. One day I'm gonna be bald and have memory loss, then what are we gonna do?"

They all laughed and Caitlin slapped the back of my head, "You goof. You've been a highschool graduate for an hour and you're taking like you're 45!"

"Hey, I'm just preparing myself. Unlike you dweebs." I stuck my tongue out at her.

She made a face of disgust at me, "Michael Gordon Clifford put your saliva infested tongue back in your mouth!"

Oh, I've got her now.

I smirked at her and then leaned over licking her cheek, "Don't think so Caito."

Luke, Ashton, and Tyler exploded with laughter while Caitlin was furiously rubbing her now wet cheek on my sleeve. I just laughed along with them.

"Oh my gosh. I hate you so much Clifford, you just wait." Caitlin stated hitting my arm.

Sidney giggled at her, "Wait for what? You gonna hug the boy to death?"

Caitlin's cheeks burned red, "I can be mean."

I smiled, "About as mean as a Carebear."

She smacked my arm again and whined, "You guys are mean."

She's so cute. Shit, Mikey stop.

"Awe, we're sorry! Don't be like that." I chuckled at her.

She smiled at me, and I swear I fell more in love with her than I already was.
