Isabella woke up to the muffled sound of the brook through the window, sitting up from her bed and rubbing her chocolate brown eyes as she sat up and stretched. Her shoulder-length brown hair was knotted and matted to her face from how viscous of a sleeper she was. The pastel pink comforter was wrapped around her body, taking a few moments to find her way out of it.
Groggily, she leaned over and grabbed her phone from the bedside table to grab her gold iPhone 8. The lockscreen, a photo of her and her dog, Buster, was covered by a few notifications. Glancing at the time, she groaned at how early it was. 10:22. A specific notification caught her eye; a text from her neighbor from across the street, Luke Hemmings, who Isabella always had a massive crush on. The text read, "it's supposed to be like, 98 degrees today. swimming at the lake? x". She instantly felt her cheeks flush, quickly typing back a response to the male. "sure. meet me there at 11!"
Isabella scrambled out of bed, running to her dresser and grabbing a hairbrush, running it through her straight, thick, but knotted hair. Once all the tangles were out, she put her hair into two neat french braids. The eighteen-year-old changed into a black and white striped bikini, throwing on her favorite black cover up on top of it. Isabella looked around her room, proud of how neat it was; since she was constantly cleaning it. After she snapped out of her trance of glancing at her room, she slid on a pair of adidas slides. She finished getting ready by 10:40, deciding she had time to go eat a quick breakfast.
In the meanwhile, the nineteen-year-old male sat in his bed, never getting ready until the last few minutes. Luke decided it was a good time for him to get ready at around 10:40, when Isabella was making herself a breakfast consisting of pancakes and bacon. The male slowly sat up out in his bed, his blonde hair curly from the shower he took the previous night.
As he got up, he smiled proudly to himself in the mirror, as he was always attracted to Isabella as well. Though their feelings were never vocalized towards each other, everyone else saw they should be together, and Luke's sister Nicole made it extremely well known around the house. She always found a way to tease him about liking a younger girl, and how he was too much of a wuss to actually make her his. One day she'll be proved wrong. Luke knew that Isabella would be his girlfriend. Girlfriend. He felt his lips curve up into a toothy grin at the thought.
Luke changed into a pair of swim trunks, staying shirtless as he put on a pair of flip-flops, leaving his house at 10:48, 12 minutes too soon in his mind. Isabella left her house at 10:54, 10 minutes too late in her mind. The lake was down the block a couple of minutes, in Luke's neighbor's backyard. Since they basically lived in the middle of nowhere, the houses were decently spaced apart.
When Isabella arrived at the lake, she was shocked to say the least. For starters, she saw Luke shirtless, which made her cheeks flush a delicate shade of pink, and he was there early. As she approached him, he got up, giving her a hug once he was in front of her. Luke's arms went around Isabella's waist; her arms wrapping around his torso, letting the hug linger for around 10 seconds before pulling away.
"Ready to go for a swim?" Luke winked as he saw Isabella take off her cover up, being unable to control his ocean blue eyes lingering up and down. "If I get any diseases, I'm suing you, Hemmings." Isabella spoke in a fake threatening voice, letting a soft giggle slip past her lips before she continued to talk. "Also, don't pull some After shit on me while we're here." Isabella joked, referring to the lake scene in the fanfiction. "Huh?" Luke mumbled in confusion, causing Isabella to shake her head. "Nothing." She laughed out.
Luke put his phone down on a bench located across from the pond before getting a quick running start, gently picking up Isabella and holding her tightly against his body as he jumped into the lake. "Luke, what the fuck?!" Isabella yelled at him once they were on the surface, trying to hold back a smile as she saw him spit out lake water, cringing in disgust. "I don't know what you're talking about." Luke shrugged, playing dumb. She playfully rolled her eyes, getting more and more disgusted by the dirtiness of the water the longer she was in it. It took a while, but she got Luke out of the water eventually.
"Isabella, what was the point of coming here if you were gonna get out right away?" Luke whined out, his arms crossed over his bare chest, clearly flexing a bit. "I don't know, dork. You tell me, it was your idea." Isabella laughed softly, the two's bodies quickly air drying from how hot it was outside. "Well, maybe so I can be with you for a while." He spoke softly, running his fingers through his damp curls. "How about this? We'll both go back to our houses and take showers. Then maybe you'll come over tonight and we'll make s'mores? And I don't know, talk about life and shit." She suggested, wanting to spend as much time with Luke as possible. "Sounds like a plan, see you then, doll." Luke talked smoothly, giving a playful wink as the two went their separate ways, both desperate for it to be nighttime.
