Falling Through The Vines

Chapter 1

A pair of giant gates opened for as long as I lived in these lonely woods those gates have only opened once before 17 years ago. The girl who emerged 17 years ago had piercing green eyes and beautiful curly ginger hair.This girl was different she had something on her head it looked as if it was a crown of some sort she had dark brown hair that almost was a black and her eyes were as blue as the ocean,she was wearing a white flowy dress that reached to about her mid thighs and had white lace sleeves on.
   I looked down at her feet and realized the girl before had shoes on but this one didnt she was bare foot and vines wrapped around her ankles which I found a bit strange but everything about that gate and what was behind it always seemed strange to me but hey what do I know.I had noticed the girl had began to walk her dark hair pulled to one side of her neck naturally curling.
    I trotted up to her stopping in front of her she bent down petting me "hey there pup what are you doing so close to the temple".Her voice was soft and gentle.I growled at her for calling me  a pup by accident but she didn't seem affected she just smiled at me her blue eyes staring into my green ones as she got up to her feet again making her way into the forest .
       Just as I thought she was she was gonna leave me there she turned looking back at me"you coming or not pup?"she asked a smile making its way into her face as I ran up next to her as we made our way into the forest
  Emerald s pov
With my new friend following I touched a tree and a sudden surge of pain shot throughout my body.The counsel had been right this forest was dying .My name is emerald I don't have a middle or last name cause I don't have parents ,well I do I just haven't met them none of us have when an elemental is born were taken from our parents as soon as they know what we are it's the rules after all.
     So when I say i don't know what a mother's warmth feels like ,I literally don't know like at all.As I stood by the tree that had 'im dying help me'surging through it I tapped my foot on the forest floor as the part of the forest I was in brightened up with life the wolf I was with tilted its head in confustion I leaned Down to touch it not realizing power was still flowing through out me .As I touched the animal a bright light exploded and we both flew back than every thing went black as my head hit a tree
