The morning rays were shining through the asylum windows.. Of course, Kate couldn't see that from her small white cell. She had been up all night just staring at the wall, not bothering to go to sleep. She didn't like this thing called ' sleep '. It made her feel vulnerable, weak even. Something that she hated feeling.
The door to her cell opened revealing a tall brunette nurse in the doorway. This was the only.. ' Nice ' nurse in the asylum. Though Kate hardly even knew the nurse, let alone her name, she felt somewhat comfortable around her. The brunette spoke in a calm collected tone, " Breakfast begins in 2 minutes, but I thought I could take you to breakfast for a change? " Kate hated being escorted by the guards, every time she would look in direction other than forward she'd get yelled at. Kate complied happily, getting up from in the middle of the room and walking towards the brunette.
The walk towards the breakfast hall was long and boring. The brunette would try to make conversation with the girl, but would only get a small nod in return. After about a minute and a half walk they had finally reached the breakfast hall. Kate got her food and went to the nearest table. Sitting at the table were two of her only friends, a little girl named Ellie about the age of six who was diagnosed with Panic Disorder. Though, Panic Disorders aren't all that dangerous, this case was different. Whenever she would have her little ' moments' she would start throwing sharp objects at people, in order to protect herself. The other person was a 21 year old male named David, he was diagnosed with Schizophrenia. Due to his condition he would often see people that weren't there and would just appear to be talking to a wall. Other times he would talk to trees rocks, or even random people's dogs.
As Kate sat down at the table Ellie immediately looked up a scared expression plastered on her face. She soon smiled realizing it was just the dark haired girl, " Oh! K-Kate! You scared me!! ". David looked up from his plate, " Mr. Snuggles says that you're always scared! " Ellie jumped at the sudden loud voice dropping her fork on the ground. Kate was already tired of their bull.
