A few months later...
I wake up on a soft white bed, hair sticking out in various places. I see Toboni sleeping softly next to where I was fast asleep and I can't help but to smile at her.
I get up and I walk to the kitchen which is delicately decorated in my apartment. The white tiles fill the walls with fake wood planks underneath my bare feet. I keep walking to the polished obsidian-like counter and I grab a bowl, the milk from the refrigerator, tablespoon and the Cheerios.
As I pour the cereal into the bowl, I hear a voice say my name.I turn around and I see Adam and Nat standing there, smiling at me. But they are ghosts so I can't embrace them both but I give them a subtle smile on my face.
"We just came here to wish you a happy birthday," Adam beams back at me. "And the one hundred-and-God-knows-what times but congrats on winning the war."
"You have made everyone here so proud of you." Nat puts her hands into her pockets and then I see Cillian appear next to Adam.
"At least I don't have to see her again," he sighs in relief. "She was a wicked and cruel woman."
"I know." I say as I sit down by a glass table and I begin to eat my breakfast.
"At least you can live without any wars and all that..." my father says to me. "It was sad she couldn't be redeemed but it would be better if she did the way she did."
"A bit harsh!" I tell him with my mouth full, some milk spewing out of my mouth.
Then Jeanine stands by Nat.
"Jeanine..." I swallow my food. "How are you and Viola?"
And then she puts up a middle finger with a snicker on her face.
"Fine, lesbians being lesbians. But we haven't got that far with it-""Yet." Adam says and we all laugh, even Jeanine laughs with a blush on her face.
"But anyway, have you got a job yet?" Jeanine asks me.
"I am taking my English exams soon. Just because I can't really read but I am getting there. I can read some books like Diary of a Wimpy Kid. Hopefully soon I can get a job."
"That's great!" Adam beams at me. "We are so proud of you."
I hear footsteps coming towards the kitchen and I see Toboni come in, yawning as she takes her tablet for her PTSD then turns to where the ghosts are. "Hi guys!"
They all wave at her and start talking but Nat.
She walks up to me and sits on the table. "I can't pull out chairs,"
I move one open for her and then I finish off my breakfast. "How have you been?"
"Alright thanks. Got shouted at by my aunt which was quite funny all because I gave her a cup of tea which was too bitter.
What about you?""Planning to go to Greece." I think of the destination, smiling to myself. "Probably Athens then to um... I don't know." I chuckle to myself.
"Well... I hope you enjoy it." she says to me and she starts to fade away along with the others, leaving me with Toboni.
"They'll come and go on our journey," I inform her and so she walks towards me and kisses my forehead.
"Well, you gotta get dressed soon because we have a big night tonight."
"Wait. What? What is going on tonight?"
"Watching another round of Mamma Mia, because I know you want to!"
"Well... Kinda."
"So get ready! We gonna go to Waterloo Road for this!" she walks out to get changed-
I see why it's on that road...
Toboni sings the song all the time!
I get up and wash my bowl and everything like that.
"Is there anyone else coming?" I call out to her.
"Loads! We have Davy, Liang, Lee, Nick, my friend Simon and a few others." she says as I hear water tapping onto the floor.
I walk to the bedroom and get changed into my non-war-like clothing and I then sit down on the bed. I look around but then I see the aquamarine necklace on the bedside table to the left and I pick it up with my hands.
Not even damaged.
I then put it around my neck, moving a bit of my hair out of the way and then I stand up to the mirror and I can see a brown haired girl with hazel eyes glistening proudly with a white jacket which on the back says "The Dancing Queen" (which I am not) and black trousers which blends nicely with my shirt and shoes.
Within a few minutes, Toboni comes out with the same clothing, only the opposite colours and it says: "How can I resist ya?"
"You ready?" she asks me and I nod, taking her hand and we walk outside into the New Elizabethian streets, taking the car which is driven by Nick. A few familiar faces cheer and waves at us as we sit down.
"Let's go!" I tell Nick and we drive onwards, on the way to a happy ending.
