Chariot's POV

I am in Croix's room currently, while she tries without success to teach me how to make a potion. This potion is supposed to turn whatever it's poured on into a stone version of itself. While trying to teach me how to make it, Croix petrified my notebook, my pencil, and my favorite pair of pants to no avail. I just couldn't focus or sit still, somehow today I was even more restless to get studying over with so I can relax.

Croix thinks I look my best when I turn myself into a centaur, but I think the only reason that is is that it shows off more skin. I don't know for certain, but she always insists I turn into one and the ogles at me as I prance around.

Even if she did really like seeing me as a centaur for that reason, I wouldn't even know how to feel. Croix has always been there for me and is my closest friend in the entire galaxy, but I don't yet know if she.... swings toward the other side. I don't know how to phrase it without straight out saying that I don't know if she is a lesbian or not. Oh crap, I just thought that, didn't I?

It's just I'm her best friend and if she was....lesbian then I would want to know. I just want her to know that I love her for who she is, and not for who she likes. I don't want her to feel like she can't come out to me, you know?  She's the most important person in my life and I want her to be happy with herself and who she is. Ugh, I'm probably thinking way too hard about this.

"Chariot! Are you paying attention?!" Croix asks, snapping her fingers in front of my face.

"Uh yeah! Of course, I am!" I nod my head, but I don't think Croix believes me.

She sighs, crossing her arms against her chest, "Then let me see that you can make the potion yourself!"

I look at the ingredients in front of me. Mashed cranberries, water infused with magical energy, mashed nightshade, lemon juice, the hair of a fairy, and some crushed up mushroom I didn't know the origins of. Alright, I got this. I was kind of paying attention when Croix showed me the first time, so I grab all the ingredients I remember. First I put about an inch of the magic-infused water into the test tube, then raise an eyebrow at Croix. She seems genuinely surprised I was able to remember the first ingredient.

I then put a drop of nightshade followed by a single fairy hair. Then I swirl the ingredients inside the tube together until they become a dark purple color. Finally, I add about a milliliter of lemon juice to the mix, making it somehow turn a dark red color. I look back up at Croix and her face shows she is truly baffled by my ability to make the potion.

I smirk, "See Croix! I can make the potion all by myself!"

"I'm genuinely impressed Chariot," She says, "Now let's see if it works! Try it on my pencil"

She holds her pencil out for me to put the potion onto, so I quickly move my free hand to grab the pencil. In doing so, it made the potion in the tube splash, resulting in most of it landing on Croix's feet. As soon as I realize what I did, I put the tube down in its holder and cover my mouth with my hands.

"Chariot! What have you done!?" Croix shouts as she looks at her shoes that are slowly turning into stone with each passing second.

"I'm so sorry Croix! How do I fix this? What can I do to help reverse this?!" I ask frantically, looking to Croix for guidance.

She grabs a paper and scribbles down a list as quickly as she can. I don't know how she can still have perfect penmanship at such a stressful time. I don't even know what is going to happen to Croix now that I spilled the potion on her. What if she will get hurt because of me?! I could never live with myself if that happened...
