Loony Lovegood was how she was known around Hogwarts. Sure, she was a bit different from the rest of them, but she was no doubt unique and special. Behind all of her quirks and the oddness, Luna Lovegood was hiding something. She was chosen for a task that only few had attempted before. It was dangerous, and mysterious, but she was the one prophesied to do it.

The Lovegoods were a small and happy family, consisting of three people. Luna's father, Xenophilius, ran the strange newspaper called "The Qubbler." It was know to provide odd articles within, and had very few readers thereof. Many believed that all the stories were made up, but Xenophilius was happy.

Luna's mother, Pandora, was known for her curiosity. She wanted to know everything about the world and it's inhabitants, almost as if she was one with the world. One could find Pandora creating new things in her kitchen at home, whether it be spells, potions, or objects.

Quirky, smart, and odd were all words that could describe the Lovegood family. One day, this Ravenclaw family was torn apart when Pandora's curiosity got the best of her. She had been experimenting with creating a new spell in her home kitchen, when something when terribly wrong. The poor nine year old Luna had witnessed her own mother's death, and from there on our, was raised by her father.

It was only a few years after the tragic accident that struck the family when Luna went to Hogwarts for the first time. From the start, she was outcasted, stuck without friends. Sorted into Ravenclaw, everyone knew she was smart, but she was too odd to befriend. But, Luna was used to it.

The professors at Hogwarts noticed immediately that Luna was not sorted into Ravenclaw just because she was smart, but because she was also witty, observative, and creative. Just the right traits a certain teacher was looking for in an apprentice.

Only Dumbledore knew that one of his staff members was a Fairy godmother to one of his students. And she was just happening to be looking for someone to pass her secrets to. Someone she could trust to be the Fairy Godmother of a special witch, Adellah Storm.

The fellow Ravenclaw was a quiet girl, but her huge heart made up for her shyness. She would give up anything to help anyone else, even if it meant that she would suffer herself. Adellah was truthful, intelligent, kind, and was always lending a hand. The professors at Hogwarts noticed her behaviors as well, and it was Dumbledore who approached the Fairy Godmother in his staff. He had asked her to take in Adellah as her Goddaughter, but she couldn't. She was sworn to one Goddaughter already.

Unable to take in another Goddaughter, the professor had an idea. Her magic was ancient, passed on by each generation to the next. Each Fairy Godmother has one requirement in order to begin training: that when the time comes, they must pick and train their 'FGIT' (Fairy Godmother in Training to us non-Fairy Godmothers). And, it was time for the Hogwarts professor to chose her FGIT, it was time for her to pass the old magic down one more generation.

Luna could remember the day she was called to the Headmaster's office for no obvious reason. Everyone thought she was in trouble, but boy, were they wrong. When she arrived at the gargoyle statue guarding the Headmaster's office, she was greeted by a fellow professor. The professor muttered the password to the gargoyle, which moved out of the way in order to reveal a spiral staircase leading upwards. Luna cocked her head as she watched her professor climb the stairs, soon following suit in the same airy manner with which she does everything else.

Confused, Luna walked into what she assumed was Dumbledore's office. Dumbledore had smiled when she walked in, gesturing for her to sit down it the armchair in front of his desk. The professor that had guided Luna up here made glanced at Dumbledore and cleared her throat. "Now dearie, I'm sure you're confused as to why you are here," she paused as Luna nodded her head. "Let me first reassure you that it is nothing bad. You, my dear, were hand-picked from hundreds of other students in this school, so you should feel very proud indeed. You will be my Fairy Godmother in Training." She paused, tentatively watching as Luna tilted her head with curiosity, gasping as she realized what this meant. Luna had grown up with stories of Fairy Godmothers, always believing in their existence. And here, right before her eyes, one of her professors was one. She watched intently as the professor in front of her began to float upwards, beautiful wings sprouting from her back.

Both professors watched the girl as she processed the news. Dumbledore stood up, walking around his desk to stand next to the Fairy Godmother. "Now, it has already been decided who your Goddaughter is, Adellah Storm. She needs you, especially in the next coming years. Now, becoming a Fairy a Godmother is a very hard feat, and it requires not only focus and dedication, but also determination. You will be the light in her storm, and will help her with the aid of your professor and trainer here. But, I must first warn you. Fairy magic is very old indeed, and very dangerous. Be careful to do only what she says. Now that that is out of the way, would you like a lemon drop dear?" Dumbledore had offered the girl some candy, but Luna declined as she swore her oath of secrecy. The two professors had watched as the girl skipped out of the room and back down the stairs with an airy glow around her.

That was the day that had forever changed Luna's life. The day she became a real Fairy Godmother (in training). The day where Adellah Storm gained a guardian. A day which changed everyone's lives, for better or for worse.
