SIX YEARS LATER

"Will you have to throw a seven! Or the demogorgon will get you!"

"I know! But what if I just....."

"You guys c'mon! Decide fast we don't have all day!"

"I'm hungry!"

"Dustin you're always hungry, shut up!"

Will rolled the dice and..... It was a seven! The boys cheered at their victory in the game.

At sixteen, the four boys still couldn't let go of their love for Dungeons and Dragons. Mike was the Dungeon Master/Paladin, Lucas was the Ranger, Dustin was the Bard and Will was the Cleric. It was a ritual for them to play the game every weekend without fail. They had been doing so since they were twelve.

"Boys, will you all be staying for dinner?" Mrs. Wheeler asked then from the top of the basement stairs.

"Not me, Mrs. Wheeler. Mom is coming home early today, I have to go." Will told her politely.

Mrs Wheeler left them to their games and left to prepare dinner.

After Will had left, Dustin and Lucas had dinner with Mike and his little sister Holly and soon left for their own homes.

That night a terrible thunderstorm struck the town of Hawkins. It was strange for a storm that hard to hit their town in the middle of June.

Mike tossed and turned all night, sleep never really finding him. Each time he drifted off for a bit he'd be jolted awake by the sound of loud thunder. Even for the few minutes that he did drift off, his mind didn't find peace. It was as though a battle was raging inside his brain. Vivid lights and the sounds of war trumpets filled his dreams.

He seemed to be traversing through strange hallways but it felt like he had always known them. He felt like he was running from someone. He could see flashes of lights outside the corridors, like fireworks.

"How far will you run? You know it's your fault!" said a voice.

"Go! I'll hold them back! You know where it is. Go find him!" said another. This voice seemed to belong to a brown skinned girl with long black hair. She seemed to be running along with him and talking to him.

"Eight I can't leave you alone! They'll kill you! I don't even know if its him!" he felt his dream-self telling her.

They were running through the woods now. There seemed to be a strange glowing hole in the middle of the woods. He could see it at a distance.

Eight seemed to stop him, look into his eyes and put her hands on his shoulder. "He saw you for a reason. He was the only one who saw you. It has to be him. Now go! Go get him Eleven!"

Mike jerked awake with a gasp.

Eleven.

It had been six years since he had last heard that name. Six years since he saw her. Six years since she had promised to come find him. It all seemed like a distant dream to him now. For a couple of years he'd glanced at the woods every time he visited Will's house. Then he had tried to convince himself that she couldn't have real. But he had seen her change into the ball of light that had invaded his dreams for years and that particular thought wouldn't leave him mind.

Another streak of lightning flashed outside his window followed by a loud thunder.

Mike got up from his bed and went to the window as he knew sleep wouldn't find him again that night. Was what he saw, a dream? This woman, Eight, she seemed to be talking to him. But he'd never seen her before. And she had called him Eleven. Maybe.....maybe he was El in his dream. She was running and she was in danger. And Eight told her to go find "him". Who was she looking for? Why was she looking for a "him"? Where was she going?

These thoughts ran through his mind till early dawn. The sky had cleared of the storm clouds and all that was left of the storm was a light drizzle. He could see the light filling the sky when he heard the shrill ringing of the telephone from downstairs.

"Who could it be so early in the morning?" he thought.

No one else in his house was up then so he ran down the stairs to pick up the call.

"Hello?"

"Mike! Is Will at your place??" said a voice frantically.

It took Mike a while to place whose voice it was. It was Will's elder brother Jonathan.

"What do you mean? Will left last night before we had dinner!!" Mike replied.

"WHAT!? But he's not home. He didn't come back last night. We thought he forgot to inform us and had to stay at your place because of the rain."

"Wait he didn't make it home? But he left before the storm even started" Mike answered frantically.

"I have to go Mike. We have to find him-"

Jonathan hung up the phone, leaving Mike stunned.

Will was missing?? How could he be missing? Did he get lost? Kidnapped? Was he hurt? Was it a coincidence that the night he had such a vivid dream about Eleven was the same night that Will went missing or did it have no connection at all?

He called Dustin and Lucas next. They had to come up with a plan. Will was missing and they had to find him.

A/N: Hey guys! I hope you like the story so far and I hope it's not too confusing. It'll become less confusing in the following chapters I swear. Idk if I'm being to convey the concept that I have in my head. If you have any confusions, feel free to ask! Also, I'll be updating weekly from now on because my college is starting from this week. Thanks for reading!
