Wading through the seas of people,I watched as people stood around in a circle, around a group of around three people,if there were any others, they were hidden behind people packed thickly for me to see them. I was confused beyond belief, wondering why the people seemed so adamant in listening to and watching them. What shocked me though, was how man people there were, men, women, even children were standing, staring in amazement at the people, each stood on a slight pedestal as they rattled on. Deciding that the place I had intended to go wasn't as interesting, and it really wasn't,and I quickly weaved through the people, barely brushing shoulders with anyone as I focused my gaze on the closest person to the edge where I was.

The person was a teen, young, around 15,with uneven bangs and short hair chopped close to their head as dark, almost red, eyes looking downcast as they talked softly to a person who stood next to them, one that was looking remarkably similar to them, except their different jackets. The closest one to me was wearing a blue hoodie with a grey hood and a white fluff lining the outer rim,the other wearing a purple sweater with baggy sleeves and baggy body,a single blue stripe on their chest. "S'cuse me." I said, stepping past the first line of people from which I'd been observing, looking up at the one in the the blue hoodie, straight into their deep red eyes with my dull blue-green ones. Staring into their eyes dully,I asked, slightly curiously,"What's goin' on 'ere?" a stoic look on my face as I clasped my hands behind my back.

"Oh,we are all just recounting our encounters with the beast in the woods" the one in the hoodie said, shivering at the mention of their so called 'beast' in the woods,"for those interested in it." the other added, probably seeing the 'Oh,really' look in my eyes. Smiling at me,they sat on the pedestal as if it were a seat, tucking their legs underneath, the one closest following their example so they were eye-to-eye with me. "I'm Frisk." the one in the sweater introduced, holding out a hand and I quickly met it with my own, shaking it,doing the same with the other in the blue and grey hoodie as they also introduced themselves with a small smile, "And I'm Chara."

"So,what's the story for you?" I asked Frisk, and they smiled, wrapping an arm around a Chara that looked agitated,as if it was a severely bad memory for them, "It's mine AND Chara's story." the said, leaning against Chara with a thankful expression on their face. "Mind tellin me 'bout it?" I asked, leaning forward slightly, hands still clasped behind my back,a serious look accompanied with a genuine look of curiosity as I wanted to know what the big fuss about this infamous 'beast' was about. It had been told to look like many a different monster, most commonly as a beast that looked to be a sort of humanoid, but not quite, each being different depending on who told it,each having some deformity like looking starved (akin to a Wendigo) or even having horns (akin to a Devil).

"Well,our story is.....

Me and Chara started on a walk, since the night was gorgeously illuminated with the light of the moon, and it was all to perfect! So,Chara and me were enjoying some small talk, and, somehow,we got onto the subject of the very forest we were walking in,and we started discussing what we would imagine the monster to look like. We made weird guesses, like someone faking to be a monster, and even imagining it even further than our widest dreams combined. It was gloriously stupid.

We both had stopped in a clearing for a while and imitated a 'scary beast',and I jumped onto a rock and started making stupid faces and acting like a doofus, doing a stupid dance, and almost falling a few times. Chara just watched me,laughing at how stupid I was being, even joining in every so often and making a stupid quip or spurring me on in my actions. After a while,we both were dying from laughter.

I tripped off of the rock, and I still kept laughing as I accidentally tripped onto Chara, and we stopped giggling quickly when I noticed that Chara had gotten their arm in a slightly awkward position, and we both stopped laughing. However, when we stopped, there was still a hearty chuckle coming from somewhere and me and Chara immediately froze, before we scrambled to our feet. While we never really believed in the 'monster' we were still teriffied that the monster we'd created were real and was after us,and it was beyond terrifying for both of us.

So,we both listened to the laugh that was like a deep ringing of bells, and it made our hearts race as we noticed that there was also a thumping noise. Y'know, that noise that you hear when you start hitting your knee when you're laughing at something stupid, like a pet? It was exactly that, and,it was scary because it was laughing at us like that, and it spooked us,badly, especially with the connotation like that.

So,we ran,we ran all the way it had taken hours for us to walk, and it made us almost collapse when we reached the end, instead it ended up bringing us both to our knees as we hacked and coughed our lungs out. But,when we were down,we looked at each other and saw the other was coated in an unnaturally luminescent light, blue in colour, and we heard the same laughter, more like a jeer at us,and we both went rigid. We didn't see anything of it,but we heard it's voice, and it was deep, hollow, showing only one emotion,

Amusement.

A sick joy of our struggles,as it said to us, " The two of you are hilarious, but no harm shall come to you,you are to good to harm, now, leave, leave this place and never return. " When we were released from what held us captive,we ran, running as fast as we could, and even that didn't feel fast enough as we felt the first and final true fear in our lives. "

Frisk finished the story with a shiver, and I agreed with them, that would be terrifying beyond my belief if I encountered that, but I barely believed it happened, and I just respectfully thanked them, nodding go both of them before sinking back into the crowd of people and continuing on my way.
