A couple days had passed and things were better. Kylie and I had been doing a lot of shopping. Currently, she was in the shower as I looked through my jewelry, looking for a necklace my paternal grandmother had given me before she passed away. I wanted to wear it tonight for the dinner that Joe was treating us too.
After searching for a while, I gave up and skype called my mother.
"Hey," She said as she answered.
"Hey," I said, "Did you send over the necklace that dad's mom gave me?"
"Yeah, I remember packing it." She said.
"I can't find it anywhere." I shook my head. "I'll look again, thanks mom."
"Bye honey," She said and hung up.
I continued to search until Kylie came back into the room.
"So what are you wearing to this dinner?" She asked.
I pointed to the dress I had laid out on the bed. It was a pretty yellow color that reached right above my knees. She nodded and continued to dry her hair. I pushed myself up as Joe poked his head in.
"Hey, is it alright if Byron comes along tonight?" Joe asked.
I scoffed, "I thought this for just us."
"Byron's my roommate and you kind of kicked him out for the week." He said.
"Yes, because I didn't want to see him."
"Well I already told him he could so you're out of luck."
I rolled my eyes and he left my room, shutting the door behind him. I looked to Kylie, expecting her to say something snarky but nothing came out of her mouth. She was brushing through her blow dried hair. She started to straighten it as I pulled applied some mascara to my face.
After about an hour, we finally got into our dresses. I slipped into my heels as I pushed my straighten hair over my shoulder. We walked out of my room, seeing Joe in the hallway. He was wearing a nice suit, his hands tucked into his pockets.
"Finally," He said, "Now we're just waiting on Byron."
"Where is he?" I asked.
"Right here," I heard behind me.
I turned my body to face him and saw he was also in a tux. He didn't have his glasses on but he looked really good. We made eye contact and I felt my heart flutter but I shook the feeling away. There was no way in hell that I liked Byron in the way. He was a jerk and I had to remember that.
"We should get going." Joe said.
"Right," I nodded as I tore my eyes away from Byron.
We got down to Joe's car. Kylie slid in the backseat behind Joe in the driver's seat. I reached for the door handle but Byron's got there first. I looked up at him as he smiled.
"You look beautiful," He said.
I choked on the air as I nodded. He pulled the door open and I stepped in. He pushed the door shut as I stayed quiet, pulling my seatbelt around me. This was going to be a very long night.

Once we got home, we all changed into comfortable clothes. Kylie and I were going to binge watch some Criminal Minds on Joe's Netflix account but just as we got comfortable, things started to crash.
"Where the hell are they?" Byron yelled as he hurried into the living room.
"Where are what?" I asked, completely confused.
