As I waited for my Dad I turned on the TV and watched the news. I turned it on in the middle of a story so I didn't really know what was happening but I saw it was something bad.

"I saw that that was bad." The voice behind me made me jump as the person joined me on the couch.

"Oh Peter... Jesus you scared the shit out of me." I gasped and I put a hand to my chest.

"Oh sorry, I didn't mean to." I smiled, he was always apologizing no matter how many times I told him not to. "So I guess you're feeling better?"

I inhaled sharply, "I figured it was best to just put it behind me before someone else thinks something is wrong. I'll just move past it, can't be that hard can it?"

He didn't say anything but instead focused his attention to the screen in front of us, "I hear Fury's sending a couple from the team out there."

"I didn't really see much of the story. What's happening?"

"They found two Hydra guys trying to infiltrate government groups and take them down but they captured them and told them the location of a small Hydra base. They thought the military could take it down but it ended up being huge, the sensors just didn't pick up on the underground buildings so they might have to send a few avengers in for a couple of weeks..."

I sighed, "And one of them is going to be my Dad."

He looked at me sympathetically, "Probably..."

I nodded and tried to hold back tears. I had only had him a couple of days and he had barely spent any time with me.

I felt a warm hand on my shoulder, "I'm sorry, it's just that he could probably get the job done the quickest."

"I know... it's just that-"

"You'll miss him."

"Yeah." Peter pulled me into a tight hug.

"I'll still be here."

"You're not going?"

"No, what are they going to use a kid with spider powers for in such a tight space?"

I laughed and pulled away, "Thank you. For everything."

I heard the elevator open and peeked around the corner to see my Dad. I looked to Peter who gave me a reassuring smile and walked away.

"Hey Dad." He grunted in response. "What's wrong this time?" Another grunt. I sighed. If he didn't want to talk then I wasn't going to force him to, better for me that way.

I got up and started to walk away. "Wait Y/N." I spun on my heel and crossed my arms waiting for him to speak. "I have to talk to you."

"No shit Sherlock, about what."

"Y/N! Don't swear at me! You know better!"

I rolled my eyes, "Okay whatever, is it about your new mission?"

He stared back at me in confusion, "H-How do you know?"

"Peter told me."

He scoffed, "Of course he did. Wow you and Peter are real close for only knowing for a few days aren't you?"

I bit my tongue so I didn't say anything I'd regret, "He's just a friend who has been looking out for me, nothing more Dad. I promise."

He snorted, "I'm sure, if he's 'just a friend' then why was he in your room for a good three hours today?"

I felt my anger boil over the edge as I clenched my jaw, "He was taking care of me because you weren't even fucking home!"

"He said he was sick too! If he was sick then why wasn't he in bed! Why aren't you in bed now?!"

Could he really not see the cuts and bruises still littering my face? "You really are just that fucking blind aren't you?" I walked away from him and towards someone I knew I could trust, Peter.

I didn't even bother to knock I just burst in as tears poured down my face.

"Y/N what's wrong?" He asked as he got up from the chair at his desk.

"I-I need to go for a-a walk. Somewhere my Dad can't watch my every move. P-Please come with me."

He nodded, "Yeah, of course, anything to help but, aren't you going to be a little hot? It's like 60 something out."

"Fuck." I mumbled under my breath. I ran into my room and changed into running shorts and a t-shirt.

I met Peter out in the living room. He had changed his shirt as well to something a little more presentable.

"Alright let's go before my Dad stops us."
