We almost buried you
Said nice things and poured out the tears we have should have been there to wipe when they flowed out of your bloodshot eyes
They almost closed forever
We almost buried you
Stood still and grabbed handfuls of sand to throw over your lifeless form.
We should have grabbed your scarred hands and healed the wounds that lead to your bleeding heart.
The blood you let flow formed bright red flowers that we almost lay above you
We almost buried you
Almost lost your light
Almost let you leave this world battling demons on your own
Almost learnt every thing about healing the human body
Without helping you heal at all
We almost buried you
And I'm sorry it took this long
For us to understand that the darkness was winning
