Abdel

Abdel was born on March 10, 1970 in Hurghada, Egypt. Nothing much is known about his birth parents, but that they took their own lives at the funeral of the singer Abdel Halim Hafez, whom he was named after. Abdel has a younger sister named Sofia Beatriz, who is three years his junior, and both were adopted by the same couple in 1979, and spent the rest of their childhood in Puerto Rico. His adoptive first name is Juan, but because of personal preference (and seriously way too many boys named Juan in Puerto Rico), he likes to go by the name Abdel.

Abdel is married to Sofia Isabel Mendoza, who was also adopted from Egypt. Unlike Abdel, Sofia was born in Sharm el-Sheikh, and has a younger twin brother named Omar. Sofia and Abdel are five days apart and were born in the same month and year, however, Abdel is older. Both of the two grew up in the same city, and also the same neighborhood, as well as that they attended the same school.

Abdel and Sofia have four daughters, Patricia María, who is 17, twins Pietra Sofía and Paulina Lorena, who are 16, and 15-year old Pamela Lucía, who is also called "Halawa", the Arabic word for candy. The older three girls were born in Puerto Rico, while Halawa, the fourth, was born while her mother was on a business trip on July 27, 2003 in Alexandria, Virginia. Sofia is also a model photographer and quinceañera videographer. She also did highlight videos for her own daughters' quinceañeras, most recently, Halawa's.

Abdel is described to be a man to have a wonderful sense of humor, and also have a lust for life. He also isn't afraid to speak his mind and also not afraid to serve in his church. Abdel loves his daughters, as well as his wife, and also a prominent figure in their church, as well. He is a Coptic Orthodox Christian, and prefers not to eat pork products, as he is also a dietician, and finds the food not healthy, and downright lethal if not cooked (okay, this is an actual truth). Abdel also lives in the Washington, DC, area with his family.
