Kaiya opened her eyes very slowly to find herself looking into blinding light from a single lightbulb. She blinked a few times, waiting for her eyes to adjust to amount of light pouring into the room. As this happened, Kaiya put her hands on what seemed like to be a cold floor and slowly got up. Stretching, twisting her body from an uncomfortable position from which she must have been in when her eyes were closed.
After for what seemed like a minute or two of doing this, Kaiya looked around at where she was. A broom was lying in the corner across from her with a mop and a bucket. Metal shelves were on her side, with a few random stuff on it, which included some duct tape, screws, a paper clip and some caution tape. A door was on the other side of her, with a circular doorknob.
Kaiya scrambled to the door, not hesitating for one second. She twisted the knob and pushed, but nothing happened. She then tried pulling, but nothing happened. Puzzled, Kaiya tried again. But nothing. It was as if the door had a mind of its own, and decided that she can't go out.
"Hey! What's the big deal? Is this some kind of a prank?" Kaiya exclaimed. She just couldn't believe it. The door wouldn't open for her.
Then it came to Kaiya's mind that the last thing she remembers was being attacked in the entrance of Hope's Peak. Was this really a prank? Or was she...kidnapped?!
No, it couldn't be, Kaiya shook that thought off. She knew better, than not thinking about that sort of stuff. She then tried to think of how she could escape this room.
Wait a minute, escape this room? Am I in an escape room?!
The thought hit her, and made Kaiya look at the stuff on the selves. An idea popped into her head that maybe if she could use some of the stuff on the metal rack could be used to pickpocket the door. But when she looked at the door again, there was no keyhole!
What the-?! Since when did a door not have a keyhole?! She thought to herself.
That's when she noticed on the side of the door, close by the doorknob, was what looked like a scanner for something. Kaiya reaches for her pocket, looking for her ID card, but realized that it was gone!
"Where's my ID?! And where is my phone?!" She exclaimed as she kept searching her pockets. Now she really felt like she was trapped inside the room.
"Hey! Is anyone out there?! Helloooo?! If someone is out there, open this door up!"
Nothing. She started pounding on the door and repeated herself.
"HELLLOOOOO?! Is anyone out there? Open this door for me please! I'm scared!"
After ten seconds, she heard footprints. Kaiya gulped, wishing that whoever that is there, is friendly, and is here to rescue her. And then she heard a voice.
"Oh! Are you okay? I'm trying to open this door, it seems a bit stuck! Hang on!"
Kaiya sighed in relief, happy someone was here to open the door. And then, the door swung open, revealing a young woman who was wearing a black, crimson, red-and-gold jacket and sweatpants, with amber hair in a messy bun, and silver eyes with barely tanned skin. The girl also appeared to have diamond earrings and earbuds in her ears, which the cord of the earbuds went all the way into a left pocket on the bottom side of the girl's jacket.
"I didn't think someone was in there until I heard a voice, so I didn't hesitate to help you!" The girl with amber hair said. She reached her hand out to shake. "I'm Koharu Himura, the Super High School Level Baton Twirler! I hope we can be good friends."
Kaiya stepped out of the room and shaked Koharu's hand. "Thank you so much, Koharu, I think I would be stuck in there forever if you haven't come." She then releases her hand. "Oh! My name is Kaiya Auichi, but others usually call me Kai for short. I'm the Super High School Level Veterinarian. Even though I don't consider myself as a true Veterinarian, I'm glad to meet a fellow Super High School Level."
"Funny we both have names that start with the letter 'K'. And I'm also glad to meet a fellow Super High School Level, but why don't you consider yourself a true Veterinarian?"
"Because I only see myself as an assistant. I've really just been a big help to true Veterinarians when having to help animals. I usually am only making medicines for the animals and bandaging the animals up and make sure they are happy and comfortable."
"I see." Koharu shrugged. "Well, I guess we should-"
Before she could continue, a strange bell rang through and a speaker blasted with a voice Kaiya will never get out of her head.
Testing, 1, 2, 3, testing...ahh! It works! Now that everyone is awake, may everyone please come to big gym on the first floor, it is time for the welcome ceremony to begin soon!
The speaker then clicked, and nothing more. Kaiya and Koharu looked at each other for a second, and Koharu clapped her hands together.
"Well, shall we go find the gym?" she asked.
"I guess so." Kaiya replied.
The duo then walked through the hallway, finding the gym that would change their lives completely.
