Cautious Princess.

I had always been good at hiding my emotions, but the words that came out of Prince Jaycob's mouth, allowed my emotions to be shown clearly. Shock. I looked at the all the generals they were staring back at me, waiting for something. Maybe an outburst? Maybe tears? A smile?

But my mind stopped thinking, my body started to move towards the Prince, but he pointed to the empty chair nearest to me. It faced him directly, I nodded mutely and could not even tell when I was sitting down.

"I assume that Seamus has filled you in, considering that you are here," His voice boomed cold, through the stone filled room. I flinched at the noise but, allowed myself to nod, my thoughts slowly flowing back to me.

"We have already read the letter and was about to make suggestions before you came in." Darius said quickly, my eyes whipped to him, I had not even noticed that he was in the room, he nodded before continuing, "We, believe that you are allowed to listen to this letter but your actions and thoughts will not have any impact into the final decisions made."

"What?" My voice rasped, my body still affected from the news, "I am the General of the Royal Guards, the General of Darenth! How is it that my actions and thoughts will have no impact, especially considering it is my father the letter is about?" I stared directly at the Prince, his normal warm blue eyes had become crystals glaring back at me.

"Cautious Princess," He said quietly, "I am your Prince, and in a month your King. I will have authority over you, you will listen to my commands."

The words did nothing but pulse anger through my veins, our staring contest became a glaring one instead. it invited the sense of rebellion from my side and a sense of power from his.

"Elyria, listen to the letter before you throw around your anger." My cousin pleaded, breaking through the tense silence. I closed my eyes and nodded, only realising that there were other people than my lover and myself in the room.

"Prince?" Darius asked for permission, only making me clench my teeth together. It was no doubt that even though he was still a Prince, he had taken over his father's place as King.

Prince Jaycob Norlgh of Darenth,

I hear congratulations is in order, your father has finally passed.

Enjoy the freedom.

I must say that I tire of waiting. I am not a man who waits.

The girl that you found, I tired of her and now she is dead.

I have started with my new toy, I think you will know him. Gavin Wilcox. I gasped my fists clenched, pushing my nails deep into my skin.

I tire of him too. But, I have heard down the grapevine that he has a daughter. I do not know her name but I must have her. She is the best fighter in the whole Pangea. She will make an excellent toy.

I am a true and just leader, I will cease fire with Javilan for 93 days. I looked over at the General of Javilan, Konan Dargth, his eyes caught mine and I could see him pleading. And I respected him for it, he wanted to save his land from the devastation that is war. In those days, I expect the girl to across into the borders of my kingdom. A day later and I will overtake Javilan and kill all those who stand in my way.

Paimoen, King of Moriglk

Silence over took the room.

"Please Elyria, my country barely has food and cannot last mu-" Konan quickly said, sweat sweeping down his face, his eyes scared and frozen.

"QUIET!" Jaycob said, standing and slamming his fist on the table. Silencing both Konan and any other ideas the other generals may have, "Leave." He said finally. The generals quickly stood and left the room, leaving Darius, Seamus, Jaycob and myself.

"This is ridiculous." He laughed, venom lacing every word, "One person. He demands one person, over a country."

I sat silently, embarrassed that I too, was too scared to say anything to the man in front of me. He had grown ever since the death of his father, four months ago. His features became mature and his actions were always thought through, but this one note and he went back to that angry boy, who was possessive and cold.

I looked over at Seamus as Jaycob started to pace, I held his look knowing that he and I were thinking alike. I must go. I had to go. My father was captive to an evil creature but more than that, a country who had been at war for 3 years needed me to go. Needed me to be their salvation.

"Jaycob, I have to go." I whispered, hoping he heard me, "This country has been at war for years, they have children and women who cannot take care of themselves. They are tired and sick. I have to go." I told him a bit louder, standing and becoming the fierce solider, that I was.

He stopped pacing, and looked at me, "I know, my love." Was all he whispered as he nodded at Darius.

Darius quickly stood and laid out a map, "As we know, Pangea is divided into 6 kingdoms. Two have been overrun by the demons and three are still ruled by humans. Javilan has been at war since, trying to keep their human King as leader."

"We, Darenth are furthest away from Moriglk, and is usually a 183 days trip but thankfully the note said that you must only pass into his region. Which means Roke is your next best hope." He finished pointing at the map.

"Who is the current King overseeing Roke?" I asked, my eyes calculating that I would have to leave my home in ten days.

"Kael." Jaycob said, his eyes still following my every move.

Darius looked at his Prince and then back at me, "He is known to be cruel and enjoys to kill, but he is not insane and will make sure to keep you safe until Paimoen wishes."

His words hit me like a brick, Kael would keep me safe but would marinate me for his King to come and kill me, "Why me?" I asked, my hands sweaty and scared. I might face death every day, but I never wanted to die.

Seamus answered this time, "The prophecy." I looked at him in shock, I didn't think he would believe the mumbo-jumbo that the witch doctor preached.

"The prophecy is not a thing that we can ignore. Demons walk with our kind, some hide and pretend, while others kill. They do harm to our kind. We must always be prepared." Seamus replied back to my stare.

"Darius, go to the witch doctor and get all the information. We will not send our best warrior to death." Jaycob said quickly, "Seamus, find out how this note and the body was placed in our kingdom."

My eyebrows knotted together.

"You do not think we have a spy, do you?" Darius asked unable to believe that the people around us would try to sabotage the kingdom.

"Demons can shapeshift, they can be hard to identify and the one that delivered this may still be here. Seamus is our best." Jaycob sighed, sitting back in his seat and massaging his temples, "But yes, there could be a spy."

Seamus bowed at the Prince and left the room.

"Elyria, we will come up with a plan. We won't let you die." My cousin said bravely before collecting his things and leaving the room for the lovers.

I stood and walked over to my prince, I placed one hand on his shoulders and the other to raise his face, "We will get through this together."

"How can I let you go?" he whispered to me, the anger had left his face and only fear played on it.

"You do not. I will always be in your heart." I told him as I knelt on my knees in front of him, "You heard Darius, we will come up with a plan."

We both looked at each other. His warmth flew through me as he captured my lips. I moaned as I kissed him back with the same need he asked for.

And as we kissed, I tried not to imagine the fact that I did not believe Darius. I did not believe that anything would rescue me from my future hell. Not even my piercing blue eyes and rose-lipped Prince.
