At 5 pm my alarm goes off and I was woken up from my nap. Tonight, Charlie and I would be accompanying Rebecca. I stood up, made my bed and went to the bathroom to do my business. I took a shower and brush my teeth. I have always been a simple girl, I don't wear make ups and my hair is usually on a ponytail or loose. I love my long brown hair and I have never in my life had it dyed. Shelly on the other is the most fashion forward I know. Her blond hair is cut on a slick bob and even her farm clothes are out of this world. Who wears short shorts, red boots and bedazzled tee on a farm? I went to my closet and selected a pain of washed out jeans, singlet and blue merino wrap sweater. I also got my back pack and placed my laptop, two books and my trusty eye glass. Upon wearing my socks I immediately grab my black blundestone boots before heading down to the kitchen. Everyone was already their smiling and my mom was preparing some food for me and Charlie.

"Hi Honey!"

My father always the cheerful one

"Are you all set for your night?" He asked.

"Yes I am. Where's Charlie?" I asked.

"He's coming down anytime soon Ally, I asked him to get two blankets so that you can stay warm. Bianca also prepared a clam chowder for you guys to share."

Mom handed me a pack dinner.

"Okay Ally so the soup is in the stainless container and I have already placed two spoons there. I also added 4 loaves of bread to share."

"Thanks Mom"

As Charlie came down with his own backpack, Shelly then handed him two termos for coffee. We said our goodbyes and headed out to the barn. The sun was almost setting and it was the great mixture of orange and red on the horizon. We walked silently and it was really awkward, I was beginning to regret my decision when suddenly Charlie spoke.

"It's good to have you and Shelly back, you know."

I look at him as we went inside the barn and towards Rebecca. He immediately proceeds to set up in the wooden table and two chairs that the workers have created.

"Thanks Charlie. It's good to be to be here."

I said.

"Is it really?"

He said. I can immediately hear the astonishment in his tone.

"What's that supposed to mean?"

I asked.

"Nothing, just forget that I asked."

I sat in the chair and placed my back pack on the ground and the pack dinner on the table. I will not let this go.

"No tell me. What so surprising about me being home."

I see Charlie looked at me and runs his hand on his hair.

"We you see, I don't believe that you really wanted to be here. I was under the impression that once you go to college you are never coming back. You're not happy here."

Blood was rushing into my head, how dare him say that I am not happy here? For almost 18 years he has never ever spoken to me, he doesn't know me.

"You don't even know me."

I said. He looked at me and then he placed his hand above my own, the warm heat coming from him has added to the tension I feel in the air.

"Just because I don't speak to you doesn't mean that I don't know you Ally."
