(Daniel's POV)
When I woke up the next morning, I found Barbara still asleep she looked so much prettier asleep on my chest. I stayed put and just kept watch over her. When she woke up, she looked up into my eyes and smiled. "Good morning, Peacemaker."
"Good morning, Barb."
She leaned up and I met her half way and kissed her for two minutes.
"So, what do you have planned for today Barb?" She looked up at the ceiling in thought.
"I have, lunch with dad. You have to go see Alfred again to make sure the stitches haven't moved and that your healing properly.
"Seems we have a long day ahead." I smiled.
"I have a long day ahead. You have an appointment with Alfred."
Then a knock came from downstairs. 'Barbara. You home?' We heard Jims voice say.
"Damn it he's early." Barbara whined.
"It's okay. I can sneak out the window and make my way to Wayne Manor."
"No. We need to get this out of the way, so get up and get dressed and I'll go keep him distracted as long as I can."
"Good point and okay." As she left the room to keep her father busy I got up and got dressed and made sure everything was perfect. Then after I felt I was calm enough from my nervousness I headed downstairs and found Barbara and Jim in the kitchen. Barbara was cooking and Jim was reading the paper. I slid next to Barbara and helped her cook.
"Well, uh. Daniel?" Jim asked.
"Hey, Jim." I chuckled nervously.
"What are you doing here with my daughter?"
"Dad. Me and Daniel are dating now."
"How does that make me feel better?"Jim asked.
"Well, for one, Daniel's not a cop. Which you constantly made sure I'd remember. 'Barbara. If you do date a guy. Be sure he isn't a cop." Barbara said slightly impersonating Jim.
"Well, I guess you got me there." Jim got up and signaled for me to follow him to the living room.
"I'lll be back to help you finish cooking Barb."
"Okay. Don't let my dad bully you, Peacemaker."
"I'll try not to." I kissed her forehead and followed Jim to the living room.
"So, your dating my daughter?"
"I think that was just established by Barbara. But yes. I'm dating your daughter."
"How can I trust you to protect my little girl?"
"Jim. Anyone that poses a threat to your daughter. My girl Barbara. Will find it harder to get to her than they think." He examined my face and found nothing to indicate that I was lying.
"Well, I know my daughter and she wouldn't have chosen someone unless she trusted them. And to be honest. She's right. I didn't and don't want her to date a cop." He said. "You take good care of my little girl."
"I swear Jim. Nothing bad will happen to her as long as I'm here." He smiled.
"Good to hear." We returned to the kitchen and Barbara already had a plate out for Jim. I returned to my post next to her and cooked alongside her.
"So what did you two boys talk about?" Barbara asked.
"Your dad read me the riot act that comes with dating you." I told her.
"Dad. He's not a criminal. He's the sweetest and kindest man I've met since Dick of course. But that was long ago."
"Hmm. I know to let up on the reins but I just need to make sure Daniel understands what I expect anyone that dates my daughter."
"Well, just as long as you understand that Daniel's my boyfriend and that I trust him with my life." I looked at Barbara momentarily and smiled. Then continued cooking with her. After we all had breakfast. I washed my plate and dried and put it away then made my way to Wayne Manor. Until Barbara picked me up in her nice porsche and took me up to Wayne Manor. "If you want I can come and pick you up after I'm done with my day."
"I'm pretty sure Bruce will have you doing patrol tonight darling."
"Oh, right. Well. Maybe he'll let you come with me." Barbara said enthusiastically.
"Yeah. Somehow I don't see him doing that."
"Well, regardless. Go and let Alfred take a look at you and go from there, Love you Peacemaker."
"Love you more Barbara." I kissed her and got out of her car and as she drove away I headed to the front door where Alfred was waiting with the door open.
"Morning Daniel." Alfred greeted.
"Morning Alfred." I replied.
"Ready for the follow up?"
"Please forgive me while I keep my optimism on the inside."
"Quite alright." Alfred laughed. "Shall we." He gestured for me to go first. It took about an hour or two to get through the follow up appointment.
"So what's the prognosis?"
"Everything is quite alright. Your healing nicely and now that your stitches are taken out. Everything should be alright. Just no strenuous activity for a couple hours."
"Thanks Alfred." I put my shirt back on.
"Oh and Master Bruce would like you to come to his office at Wayne Enterprises. He'd like to speak to you on a private matter." Alfred added.
"This better not be some sort of ambush he set up because of what I said to him last night."
"I wouldn't believe so Daniel."
"Okay. Let's go."
Afred took me to Wayne Enterprises and when I got to the right floor I was escorted into Bruce's office. It almost intimidated me as to how nice and spacious it was. "Daniel. Please, come in." Bruce said as I looked around. "Please have a seat."
I sat in the seat across from him. "Your not going to try and buy my gunsmith shop or my business are you?"
"Oh, no. I've thought about this since last night. And I'd like to make you an offer to be part of the Bat Family."
"What kind of offer?" I asked Bruce as he pressed a button on his desk and the shades shut and the doors were locked.
"Well, you seem to be becoming a point of fear for the underworld. And I was wondering if you'd be interested helping me with the crime in this city. I mean if you were to join the Bat Family we could pool our resources not to mention I could teach you everything I know."
"Well, it does sound interesting. But if anyone is to teach me every bat trick. I want it to be Barbara. At least with her I wouldn't have to have my head on a permanent swivel. Like I would you or Dick." I looked him dead in the eye. "One more thing. Cobblepot stays as my intel source."
"I'm still surprised how you got him to dismantle his underworld empire."
"Simple. I gave him an off her he just couldn't refuse. I find that the prospect of death and ruin are very large motivators."
"Well, if you join the Bat Family. You'll have to refrain from killing."
"I understand that. But it doesn't mean that I still can't threaten them with death and ruin." Bruce nodded. "But if anyone hurts Barbara. All bets are off."
"I can respect that. Just only so far."
"Then unless you give me the emergency right of carte blanche. You and I are done here." I stood up to leave and Bruce snapped to his feet.
"Okay. We have a deal." Bruce said as he snagged my right hand.
"Good. Now one other thing. I'm going to need some wheels and a bike for the night work."
"I'll have Alfred show you around the garage. Then show you the five motorcycles you can use for night work as you put it."
"Thank you Bruce. Although, I'm not sure how I'll explain a nice car overnight."
"How about I come by your shop and you can make me one of your display guns."
"Sounds fair to me." I shook his hand.
"Welcome to the Bat Family Daniel." He smiled. "I'll be meeeting you at the batcave with Dick and Barbara and Damian?"
"I reckon so." I smiled and once he opened the shades and unlocked the door by pressing the same button I headed to the front of the building where Alfred was to pick me up. Once I got in the car after he arrived.
"I take it that your meeeting with Master Bruce went well?"
"Yes it did Alfred." I smiled. "There's officially a new member to the Bat Family. Me."
"Welcome to the Family Daniel."
"Thank you. Now Bruce said you'd be able to show me around the garage. And show me the five motorcycles. I'm supposed to choose one car and one motorcycle. The car is for daily use. As the bike is for..."
"Patrols and anytime he needs you to get somewhere in a hurry." Alfred smiled as he finished.
"Precisely. As per me and Bruce's agreement."
"Oh I'm sure." Alfred smiled as did I.
