she made her way to the entrance and grabbed arope from beside the wall. She approached the rock that covered the doorway, wrappingthe rope around the boulder before chucking the looped end over the top of anelevated wooden plank. She turned to the other end of the plank and pulled therope that was threaded through a hole. Putting her whole weight on the rope theother end of the plank started to move, pulling along with it the boulder. She letgo and let out a huff as she watched the boulder roll to the side, lighting thecave with strong rays of sunlight yet again. She looked around at the floor asit glistened with the blood of her enemies 'dammed' she mumbled angrily to herselfimagining all the work it would take to clear the mess up. Medusa set out backto the innards of her lair to heal her wounds that she had gotten from thearrows and spears. She sat there binding them with bandages and putting someointment she had made on them. When she had finished up she returned to theentrance part of her lair where the trouble had been. She pulled the rope tothe side again suspending the net to the ceiling before heaving up each boulderoff of the bodies and placing it back in, being careful not to drop any on her faceas she lifted them. She now stood upon the sea of dead bodies covering thefloor, taking a moment to catch her breath before pickpocketing each one foranything useful and then dragging each body onto carts that she would use tothrow them off of the mountain, the statues she would either add to hercollection or demolish. She had cleared up most of the mess when as she waspicking up a body she noticed a peculiar sound. It was the sound of crying butmuffled. She turned around scanning the dark cave until she saw lightreflecting off of someone, their skin lit by the light of the cave opening shecould see a shaking person kneeled on the ground. She slowly walked over to theperson ready to flash her eyes at them and be done with it. She got closer andcould now see long golden hair shining in the sunlight. She continued toapproach as the sobbing got louder and she got nearer the figure turned around.A crying girl sit there with tears streaming down her dirt ridden face and shespoke softly with trembling lips '....hello' she whispered quietly. Medusa gotcloser to the girl and looked into her eyes. She did not turn to stone, insteadMedusa looked into her eyes and all she saw was a pale white glow. She didn'tusually like to kill people from up close, killing them with traps or justturning them to stone is a different experience altogether from having to murdersomeone in a violent way up close. She sighed at the complication of thesituation. She didn't know what to do and was not in the mood for figuring outso decided to carry on cleaning up the bodies and dealing with the statues, thebodies were all soon loaded onto carts and one by one she pulled them out ofthe lair and tipped them over the edge of the mountain pathway that surroundedher lair. Each time coming back she expected the girl to have made an attempt toescape but still every time she returned she could see her curled up tremblingin that same place. She moved onto the statues and as this collection ofsoldiers were particularly badly dressed she got her hammer and went to workbreaking them. One by one she swung her hammer hard at the sculptures and thenat the ground at the remains leaving the floor covered in small remnants of thestatues that once stood. Already exhausted Medusa reluctantly went and got herbroom, you wouldn't expect a monster like Medusa to go around sweeping her lairbut you'd be surprised how ocd monsters can be. She again spent another fewexhausting hours cleaning up the dust and pebbles then resetting her traps andafter all that she again turned to the shrivelling wreck still crouched on thefloor. Most of the time Medusa didn't like to have people get away when she hadthe intention to get rid of them, but in this case she just wished by now shewould get up and run away like the rest of them most likely falling off theside of the mountain through not being able to see or starving to death on theway back to civilisation. She didn't care what happened. She was tired anddecided to go take a rest ready for another day of fighting just to exist. Shewent to her chambers and the rest of her lair was surprisingly nice, she had groundup chalk and mixed it with substance to create a paint like mixture for thewalls a few years back. The walls were white and the floors covered in allsorts of animal fur and hides so as to mask the cold, stony floor. She walkedinto her room and threw herself on the soft woollen bed. She immediately fellinto a deep sleep finally resting her body from another day of agony and work. She woke up from her sleep as the light shone through a crack she had made Inher cave walls that stretched to the side of the mountain. As soon as she awokeproperly and started getting up her snakes awoke along with her. They startedloudly hissing in her ear in discomfort 'oh shush' she groaned. Leaning off theside of the bed she sat and winced at the pains of her aching muscles andthumping headache in her head. She finally got up the strength to push herself offthe bed and stumble to her feet. She walked over to a hole in the wall andgrabbed the thin ceramic bowl that sat on a shelf beside it. She dipped thebowl into the hole in the wall and it emerged full of cool water. She tried touse the cold that came with her living in the side of a mountain to the best ofits abilities. She went and sat back down holding the now refreshingly coolbowl of water to the left side of her head in an attempt to soothe the drainingheadache. A relived sigh left her as the cold rescued her from yet anothermorning headache. After a few more minutes of blissful silence and comfort shegot up and tipped the water back into the cool hole in the wall before placingthe bowl on the shelf. With the headache gone it took some of the lethargy awayallowing her to at least have the energy to go out and hunt for some food.Medusa gracefully waltzed her way into the entrance of her lair once again. Shelooks over to the spot she had seen the girl last and to her surprise she isnot there. A slight feeling of relief filled her as she murmured 'thank god'.
