The night was terrible. Besides the fact that we slept on the hard ground between tiny creatures that lived in the moss and seemed to wake up in the night, mosquitos were buzzing around our ears every second. Those little blood suckers kept me awake all night and I was almost relieved when the morning came. The fire had gone out somewhere in the night and a small string of smoke reached up into the blue sky. I looked up at the sky. The clouds from last night had past us by and the light blue sky promised us this would be another hot day. My arms and legs were itching and when I scratched them I saw tiny red swellings all over my body. "Those bloody mosquitos!" I heard Ash groan, repeating my exact thoughts. "Good morning to you too," I said with a tired grin on my face. Ash rolled himself towards me and looked me up and down. He pulled up his nose and furrows his brow as if in pain. "You look like shit," he said to me. I groan and try to sit up. My back was aching as was my arm. My head was pounding, and I was sure the fever had made my skin paler. Ash immediately sat up and caught me gently in his strong arms when I heaved over. "I got you." I smile back at him and he puts my back to a sitting position against the stone. Another pain surged through my back and I gritted my teeth. He placed his hands next to my face and leaned in closer. "Even though you're dying of the fever, you still look daunting my dear," he grinned and licked his lips. I wanted to smack him on his face, but my arm came up so slowly that he could easily grab my wrist. He turned my palm up and kissed me softly between my thumb and my finger. A weird feeling started to flutter in my stomach. And this wasn't from the high fever. He smiled cheeky at me knowing I felt that and slowly, passionately started to plant his kisses along my arm. Towards my shoulder and in my neck. I couldn't help to sigh softly when he kissed me right under my ear. A shiver of pleasure ran up my spine. With one hand placed next to my face, he let go of my wrist and placed his other hand at the back of my neck. His knees touched mine as he placed himself in front of me, between my legs. He kissed my jawline careful and lingered in front of my lips. Maybe I should stop him. But I didn't want him to stop. "May I?" he asked as if he had read my thoughts. I nodded and tried to reach for his lips through the searing pain of my back. Suddenly a wet nose shoved itself between us, breaking our close contact and intimate moment we had. Excuse me? What do you think you two were doing?! Artemis looks dangerously at Ash who quickly backs away.

"Artemis!" I exclaim in irritation. Now his penetrating look, bore his way into my head. He spit out the small bird he had caught in my lap and looked back at me. Look Wen, I know you are a woman and all. And you have your needs. And I know you're definitely not a child anymore. But this guy? Seriously? Of all the beautiful mates in the world, you need to pick out someone who is not reliably at all? Someone who is going to break your heart? You know it as well as I do. I shrugged not really listening to his fatherly speech about choosing the best mate. Ash looked confused between me and my wolf. I felt sorry for him that he had no idea why my wolf suddenly jumped in between us. "Artemis is not overly fond of the fact that we were about to... you know..." I said a little awkward, pressing my lips together. Ash stroked a hand through his messy hair and grinned. "I assumed that much. Well I guess I better start the fire again and pluck the bird."

Yes, you better do that, petty human being, Artemis scolded at him looking grudgingly at me for not translating it for him. I shook my head and shoved him away from me. He grumbled a little and I growled a little back at him. That was our way of saying "get the hell out of my sight". Ash reached forward to take the bird from my lap, but Artemis suddenly jumped forward and snapped his jaw right in front of Ash's hand. Ash quickly withdraw his hand with a grunt and walked back to the small bonfire. "Will you bring me the bird then wolf?" he asked Artemis. Artemis refused to answer and mockingly placed himself in the pathetic little shadow the bushes created on this little island. I rolled my eyes and threw the bird towards Ash, who caught it deftly with one hand and started to pluck it right away.
