Chapter 5

— about 3 months later —

Natasha and Wanda are now like sisters to Y/n and Steve and her have become even better friends now. She has even been able to beat him a few times during training and it's hilarious to see him try to come up with excuses on how he lost.

Steve had been acting a little strange lately though. Ever since he had gotten back from a solo mission, he hadn't been himself. He would constantly argue about everything with everyone and he just wasn't the same. He didn't have the same energy and he didn't sound the same. He spoke differently and treated everyone differently.

Bruce decided to figure out what was going on but Steve refused. They couldn't even get him to go into the lab, no matter how hard we tried. Then one day, he went out for a run and never came back. Everyone had figured that he had stopped to get something to eat maybe, but when he didn't return after a few hours, that's when they grew worried. Y/n had been trying to contact him, but he wasn't answering. They had searched for him for a long time and when they returned to the facility, he was back.

Recently, Wanda, Clint, and Sam had began to act the same way. Then Natasha began acting like them. One day, after Natasha had tried to attack Y/n, they tried to lock her in a room and then all hell broke loose.

Nat fought her way out of Bruce and Y/n's grip and began fighting them. Then Steve and Wanda began to attack. Then Sam and Clint attacked too. This wasn't like them at all. Y/n managed to get Wanda contained, using her mind powers. It was extremely difficult due to her own powers, but Y/n was able to contain her.

She was then faced by Steve. He came running at her and she quickly jumped out of the way and pushed him forwards. He hit a wall and fell down. Bruce and Thor were fighting Sam, Clint and Tony. Natasha came up behind Y/n and elbowed her in the back, causing her to stumble forwards. She looked at Steve as he stood up and Y/n noticed a small metal chip implanted in the back of his neck. It had the HYDRA symbol on it. This must be what was taking over their minds and making them act this way.

"Banner! Thor! I found out what is making them do this. Hydra somehow implanted these small chips in the back of their necks. Try and pull them out. It may look easy but you must be very careful. Please" I said and they nodded. She turned back around and wham. Cap's shield hit her right in the face and sent her falling backwards. A drop of  blood fell from her nose. He ran towards her, his shield back in his hand, and she flung him into a wall again. She flung Natasha away too. She didn't want to fight them, but what choice did she have.
"Steve please. I know you're in their. Please don't do anything you'll regret" Y/n said as Steve and Natasha got back up. Steve ran at her, slamming her into a wall and punching her in the face. Y/n winced and pushed him away.

Instead of trying to pull the chip out of Natasha and Steve's necks, Y/n was going to try to take over their minds. She had gotten lost in planning when suddenly Steve tackled her and began punching her in the face. She tried taking his mind over right there, but it was too hard to focus with him punching her in the face. Her head hurt like hell and she had bruises and cuts all over her. Once she got Steve and Natasha as far from her as she could, Bruce spoke up. "we got Clint, and Sam's chips out"

She nodded and said "get Natasha and Wanda's out. I'm dealing with Cap." She said and focused all her energy into taking over his mind. Her whole body hurt and it felt like she had been stabbed everywhere and this didn't help her head at all. It was hard, since Steve was a super soldier, but she managed to take control and overrun the chip. The chip wiggled it's way out of his neck and almost instantly, Steve looked around very confused. She got out of his mind and immediately collapsed on the ground, exhausted. She took deep breaths, shutting her eyes tightly. Her powers had not been trained hard enough for that.

Her nose was still bleeding and she had a really bad cut down her arm that hurt extremely bad. "We got their chips out and they seem to be okay. Is Steve okay? Y/n are you alright? " She heard Bruce say as he walked into the room. She nodded and said "I'll be in the medical room in 10 minutes. Think you can patch me up?" She then said and looked up at him. He nodded and walked back to his lab where everyone else was. She heard them all talking and explaining how sorry they were and that they didn't know what they were doing.

She felt a hand on her shoulder and looked up to see Steve. He helped her up and she stumbled. He quickly let her lean on him for support. "Did I do all of this to you?" He said with a concerned face, not wanting to believe that he could of done this. She just nodded and then when she saw him look down at the ground, she quickly added "But it wasn't your fault Steve. HYDRA took over your mind. Then implanted a chip in your neck". He shook his head "But now you are hurt and it's all my fault" he replied. "Take me to the medical room and then you go for a jog or something to clear your mind. You need to relax for a little bit. It is not your fault Steve." She said and he went to protest but She gave him the 'don't even try' look and he dropped his head, taking her to the medical room. The whole time, he looked at her, noticing the bruises and cuts and blood. It broke his heart to know that he had caused this.
