"Marinette! Wake up! You're going to be late to school!" The voice of Marinette's Mum called from downstairs up to a certain dark haired girl.
Said dark haired girl proceeded to stretch and attempt to roll out of bed only to get caught amongst her covers. "A-ah!" She yelped as she tumbled out of the bed clumsily and onto the floor. She paused for a few moments in her odd position, her feet were still on her bed but her body was dangling off the edge with her hands pressed onto the ground. The girl blinked twice before she heard the soft giggle of Tikki.
"Yeah yeah... I'm so glad you find humour in my clumsiness," Marinette mumbled sarcastically before laughing a bit herself. With effort, she twisted herself around and managed to tumble fully to the ground so she could stand up.
As she was rubbing a forming bruise on her elbow, Tikki glided down onto her shoulder. "You should really be carful Mari though your mum's right,"
Marinette looked at her kwami with confusion she didn't under what her friend was taking about. "Huh right about what?" She blinked, forgetting about what had been said earlier.
Tikki giggled and floated in front of the blue haired girl. "You're going to be late for school! Hurry!" She pointed to a clock causing Marinette to jump to reality and start rushing around to gather her school supplies and head downstairs for breakfast.
After almost tripping and causing a whole bottle of milk to tip to the floor (yet again), Marinette managed to rush out of the door and off to school. Tikki was hidden in the girls small pocket satchel as normal. As comfortable as it was, she was currently praying for her life as the bag was swung around as the girl ran down the streets.
As Marinette arrived through the school gates and managed to find and go to Alya, her best friend, along with a few other girls, she realised something felt off about the atmosphere. It had a strange energy, almost like that of an akuma fight. It was a thick and metallic feeling, like a hot muggy night. The girl half expected there to be a scream coming from somewhere about an attack but... there was none. It made her feel anxious as she glanced around. It wasn't until Alya tapped her arm that she snapped back to the conversation.
"Huh?" She blinked and stared at the others. They all had their eyes to her. Some like Rose showed concern whilst others like Alix showed amusement. She hadn't realised how out of it she must have looked.
"Girl are you ok?" The friendly voice of Alya broke the awkward silence. Her tone seemed casual enough but Marinette knew her well enough to see the worry in it. "You look worried about something? You didn't forget to do the homework right?"
Marinette sighed and shook her head. She then looked up and pulled a confident smile. "Heh no I actually did do it, I must have just zoned out," she confirmed causing the tension to drop a bit and the girls to return to their normal conversation. Marinette tried to stop thinking about the atmosphere, it was probably just because she hit her head this morning. Right?
It wasn't long until they all had to go to class as Marinette had arrived near the bell. As they made their way into the classroom and sat in their seats, Marinette looked over at Adrien. This was something she found herself regularly doing and sometimes only looked away because Alya had started laughing. This usually ended in Marinette blushing and lightly pushing her friend to make her shut up.
But this time Marinette noticed something off about the blonds behaviour. He had bumped against his desk which was normal enough but he also seemed to be glancing around at everyone too much. It wasn't until he turned around and met eyes with her that she jumped. "A-ah! Hiya Adrien- um how's going day your?... I mean how's your day going?" She blurted out, regretting it instantly as her face reddened with embarrassment.
Adrien blinked before smiling and sitting down. "It's fine Marinette," he answered in a friendly way before taking a quick glance around the room. Marinette paused, she too glanced around to see what the boy was looking for when she realised she too had been as paranoid earlier. Maybe something was up. She was about to say something when a scream came from the door of the room.
Both Marinette and Adrien's heads shot to the door, expecting an akuma to be standing there. That clearly wasn't the case as it wasn't hard to see that it was only Chloe. But something was up. It took Marinette a moment to see it but she realised that Chloe looked a bit taller and her face shape was thinner. Even her hair seemed shorter. Marinette felt her face pull a puzzled expression. How could a hair cut change that much about a person. Chloe's next remark changed her view.
"What's happening to meeee!" She whined, falling to her knees with Sabrina cowering behind the door frame in pure shock as her friend slowly but steadily changed. By now the entire class was looking over. Chloe's voice had deepened and at that Marinette realised something was wrong. Terribly wrong. And the only explanation had two words...
An akuma...
