It's interesting what a comic book can do to inspire someone. I remember reading the[technically non-canon] Batman Beyond comic book series. Especially on the run known as Mark of the Phantasm. During that run, we found out why Dick was hardly seen on Batman Beyond, and why he and Bruce never spoke to each other. Man, was it a downer. And I think it's quite obvious where the producers got the inspiration for that certain scene in Batman The Killing Joke. Anyway, after reading that story, it got me thinking... What if Bruce and Barbara's baby hadn't died before it was born? The wheels kept turning. And I thought of maybe having this be where Robin Warner saves Barbara's baby because he's always had a crush on her, and I ship them. I even thought of their shipping name, Robs. And adding Terry in made perfect sense, because if Robin knew Babs was coincidentally pregnant, it would be weird and kinda creepy, don't you think? In fact, Terry meeting Robin kind of spoofs this scene.
