Jaime took me to the kitchen, where three other she-wolves were chatting with a bottle of wine split between them.

“Luna!” A wolf around my size leaned forward from her seat on top of the granite counter to embrace Jaime, her dirty blonde hair nearly spilling over her shoulder and into her wine glass.

The other two wolves laughed at her excitement, but gave much the same warm greetings.

They looked to be an eclectic bunch. Jaime was very clean cut and motherly, with lightly tanned skin and hair that reached her waist. She looked like a Luna.

The little blonde on the counter could have been a swimsuit model. She was tiny, but athletic looking, with electric blue eyes that would make anyone stare.

Nearest to myself, and subsequently the doorway, was an average sized female. Much like Jaime, she had long dark hair and pale skin, but hers was scattered with a few black tattoos, and she had a line of piercings up both ears. She had smile lines and a few grey hairs, but despite the obvious signs of age she was still beautiful.

The girl next to her, who seemed to be the keeper of the wine, stood out the most. She was as tall as the average male and covered in colorful tattoos. Her hair was a vibrant blue, with dark brown roots showing through, and she had in in two perfect dutch braids that sat over either shoulder.

I felt rather plain. If not almost albino.

“Is this Ricky’s sister?” The little blonde hopped off of the counter and sniffed me, grinning like the cheshire cat. “She looks like a living dolly!” She giggled and kissed my cheek before Jaime pulled her back.

I blushed and smiled shyly. The older wolf came forward and rubbed my shoulder. “Sorry about Elissa, she likes to… indulge herself.” She shook her head a little. “She doesn’t take long to sober up though, once she’s in the kitchen.” They all shared a laugh.

“I’m Lisa. I run the hospital with my mate, Evan.” She slowly lead me over to the counter, where Elissa was finishing her wine glass with a sneaky smirk.

Jaime took her finished glass and filled it for herself before turning to open up a few of the kitchen cabinets. “You met Ryan and Vinny earlier with Ricky.” She paused to fill up a large pot with water from the sink, taking a small sip of her wine. “Ryan is Ricky’s Beta, and Carmen here,” Jaime pointed at the tall wolf with blue hair “is his mate.”

She waved a tattooed hand at me.
“I’m Elissa.” Elissa crawled forward on the counter and smiled at me. “I’m the Gamma.”

Lisa rolled her eyes. “You’re the Gamma’s mate, darling.”

I stepped into the kitchen a little more. “Vinny is the Gamma?” They all nodded, and Jaime handed me some vegetables and a cutting board.

“Does pasta sound okay? It’s getting late and the little wolves need to get some food before they go to bed.”

Elissa let out a little whine. “Yes, I’m starving!” She drug out the vowels in her words for emphasis, but she sat up straighter and turned so she could face the fridge. “I’ll make a salad while you bitches cook.”

She leapt down and danced her way to the large stainless steel appliance, humming something to herself.

Carmen came to stand next to me, dumping the veggies I had sliced into a pan with cheese, garlic and butter to make a sauce. “How was life with the humans?”

There was a teasing tone to her question, but I decided not to act too offended.

“The city is nice, lots of different things to do. My mother hosted a lot of different types of gatherings at her shop, so I’ve met my fair share of interesting people.”
