Chapter 5: What is my place

Yukine's POV

I find myself wondering if I should go
and talk to Yato about my feelings? Maybe even ask him if he'll consider to accept them.

However there's another thing that I guess I didn't consider until now... Status.

Yato is a god ,not exactly a good one, but still a god. It is even possible to date someone who owns you? Now I think about it, it's really not my place to be wanting Yato to return my feelings.

I should be serving him and the kind of relationship I'm thinking of is a equal one, and one where the feelings are mutual.

Either way if he was going to date anyone it'd never be me, it would be Hiyori. She's beautiful, smart and has everything a "man" could want.

What do I have?

I guess we do have a strong bond but so does every god with their regalia. I'm not special... as Yato said he'll have lots of regalia one day, but Hiyori is different to Yato right and he does like seeing her and get happy when we're all together..

For some reason the idea of Yato liking Hiyori in that way makes my blood boil. Not that I can hate her or even him for it. I'm the one who hurt Yato thinking about Hiyori in "that way".

Suddenly the door burst open and there stands Kofku looking at me with a stupidly wide grin and a twinkle in her eye.

'What are you doing crashing like that, you'll give me a heart attack' I say gripping my shirt and looking at her.

'Oh don't be over dramatic' she starts and she walks over to me and ruffles my hair.
'Anyway Yato is on his way here right now so you don't need to wo-' I stop her before she finishes.

'No wait I'm not ready to see him yet !! I haven't decided what to do' I stand suddenly and start pacing up and down trying to think about my next move, do I just run away again?

'It's only Yato, stop acting as if he's going to be upset about you liking him! He cares about you Yuki, you must know that by now. Come on just be true to yourself and talk to him 'kay!' She then shoes me a strong and kind smile before hugging me tightly.

'Yeah I guess there's no avoiding it, I'm gonna have to talk to him at some point..' I pout and bite my lip. It's only Yato. There's no reason to worry because he and I are a team no matter what happens.
