When I got home, that day, as I had expected, my mum sent me right to my winter chores. During the winter time, I had extra chores and during the summer time Eva had extra chores... that's just how it works in our house. I like having obligations in the winter time and having little in the summer because summer is my favorite season. That way... I can be outside most of the time, during the summer.
When my first foot set place in our mud room, my mom said, "Linn! I need help! Do your daily chores!"
So I went right to it, after, of course, changing out of my warmer clothes.
First, I went to the cleaning closet and grabbed a broom. I swept the whole house (Except for the carpeted rooms) and made sure to throw out the dust bunnies. Second, I went into the kitchen and made sure all of the food, that we can still eat, on the counters, was in their correct cupboards. Then, I went to the sink and began to do the dishes.
That was when Eva came down the stairs from our bedroom. I think that was the only time she came out of there that day.
She called, "Hey Linn... have you seen my book? Also... have you seen my journal? Oh, and... sorry for asking you so much, but do you know where my clothes, that were hanging on the line, went?"
I stopped what I was doing, looked at her, and said, "Your book is in the living room, your journal was on the bedside table in our room, I folded your laundry, and put it in our bedroom too."
"Thanks so much, Linn. Your the best!" she said, and scurried back upstairs.
"Wow! She was in a hurry!" I thought, as I got back to the last of the dirty dishes.
When I finished the dishes, I went upstairs and put on a brown sheep wool sweater and some brown sheep wool stockings.
"Hopefully these will keep me warm for my chores outside!" I thought.
After getting on my warm clothes, I hurried down the stairs and outside to the barn. I had to finish my chores before my father got home. He might get mad if the horses and cows aren't fed, and taken care of yet.
When I got to the barn I fed all of the animals, first, and then went on to their other needs (Milking the cows, and grooming the horses). The rest of their needs were taken care of by my father.
My father has always said, "Some of their needs are just a bit too complicated and difficult for a twelve year old girl... but you will soon be able to, I know it."
