Emerson's POV 

"You're hanging out with him tomorrow? Alone?" Avery shrieked after taking in all of the information I just shared with her.

"Yes, now calm down. It's not that big of a deal" I say.

"Calm down? It's a huge deal! Does Johnson know about this yet?" she asks as my brother comes into our sight.

"No, but he should be fine" I shrug.

"Whatever you say" she says as we walk into art class.

Art, science, and English flew by. Nothing eventful happened. Just plain, old, boring school.

Now, I'm headed to lunch with Sammy by my side. He's friends with my brother and I. We walk into this jungle that we call a cafeteria and approach our table.

Somehow, Sammy and I are always the last two out of the whole crew to get to lunch. The only seats open are next to Nate and Gilinsky. Sammy obviously took the seat next to Nate. So, this just means Jack and I get to discuss details about tomorrow.

"Hey, guys!" I say as I sit down. I am the only girl that always sits at this table. Avery sits with her friend group, which is totally fine with me. But the boys occasionally ask girls if they want to sit with us. Not today though. I look around and see Johnson, Sammy, Nate, Jack, and Mike. It may not seem like a lot of them, but it sure does get loud and chaotic.

"Hey, Ems" I hear all of them say except for one voice.

That is until I hear a soft "Hey, Ems!" There it is.

"Well you just had to be special didn't you?" I look right at him. He shrugs his shoulders in response.

"So, about tomorrow" he starts at a volume that only I can hear.

"About tomorrow..." I smirk at him.

"I was thinking we could hang at my place. It's still not warm enough to swim, so I was thinking we could bake cookies, maybe watch a movie? How does that sound to you?" He gets straight to the point.

"Perfect! Just one thing" I respond.

"What might that be?"

"Can we go watch the sunset too?" I ask.

"Anything you want" He responds.

Jack's POV

"Can we go watch the sunset too?" Ems asks me sweetly.

"Anything you want" I respond.

She sends me a small smile and nods her head.

I just look at her. I'm so excited to spend time with you.

"I'm excited to spend time with you too, G" she giggles.

Shit. I said that out loud. She starts talking to Sammy across the table and I get this funny feeling in my stomach, head, and chest.

She's smiling so much, but that's just Ems for you. She is the sweetest, most considerate, and most caring person I've met in my entire life. She has mad sass at times, which easily catches people off guard. She smiles a lot and laughs at literally everything. She's just a really happy person.

For some reason, lately whenever she's spoken to any of the guys that aren't Johnson or myself, I get this super weird feeling. It's like I don't want her getting any closer to any of those other guys. I just want her to get closer to me.

Ems knows me a little too well. Since Johnson is her brother, we are always together. She's like my closest girl friend. She's so easy to talk to and I tell her everything. She gives really good advice too. I hang out with her everyday, but I really want to start hanging out just the two of us.
