A week at my grandmother's cabin was what my friends and I desired! Sam Bark, Jessica Smith, Copper Rich, Jack Michaels, Xaden Belts, Jesus Rodriguez and me, Danny had just ended our junior year of high school. Bre, my little, eleven-year-old sister, had just completed her fifth and last year of elementary school. The six of us had a tough year, and we're looking forward to some time away.
We live in Rapid City, South Dakota. My grandmother's cabin is in Black Forrest in Colorado Springs. It's a three bedroom, three bathroom, two-story cabin! There's a lake out back! In the summer, it glitters and shines with the simple touch of the sun. In winter, it's thick enough to go skating!
But, this trip to the cabin was a trip we'd never forget, not for the rest of our lives. Let's rewind to the morning of our departure. I was up at 6 am packing two weeks worth of clothes and supplies. The trip would take seven hours, eight with traffic. Jack's mom was letting us borrow her mini-van. Jack would drive us. He had had his license longer than any of us. We planned on meeting at my house at seven o'clock, leave at 7:30, get breakfast and be on the road by 8.
MORE TO COME!
