Cory Martinson was born and raised in British Columbia. He grew up in Port Hardy but also lived in Kaloomps, BC. He currently resides in Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands, with his wife.

Martinson's commitment to his country and its rich cultural heritage shows through his dedication to public service. Since shortly after his graduation from high school, he demonstrated a commitment to his country and its values by upholding the law in various departments and positions, including the Department of Defence and Ministry of the Environment. In his current capacity as a senior appeals and policy analyst within the Information Commissioner's Office in Grand Cayman, Martinson continues to uphold the law with honor and protect the rights of citizens through review of relevant case law.

Cory Martinson is also proud of his cultural heritage on a personal note. The government of Canada bequeathed him with a prestigious coat of arms. A familial coat of arms has long been a symbol of belonging, signaling a bearer's commitment to a family, country, or region. Martinson certainly demonstrates his commitment to his country and his family on a daily basis through his professional work, so an individual coat of arms makes sense
