All that could be heard was the sound that Lauren considered to be music to her ears.
When the basketball-ball bounced from the floor back up into her palms a wave of comfort soothed through her veins and when she was on the court adrenaline took it's course.
She loved the feeling. She's always had a passion for basketball ever since she was four years of age, that Christmas when her grandmother had bought her a kiddy basketball set she knew there was a connection.
Her dad and coach, Mike was and still is super proud. Next semester is her Sophomore year of high school and she was excited for the games and well not so much academics. Learning wasn't here favorite thing although she had good grades that ranged from A's and B's.
She couldn't do it alone though her best friend from kindergarten, Normani Kordei Hamilton was always by her side since day one.
The rode and will ride together. Normani also has the interest in basketball and is very talented in the English section in academics.
To say the least Lauren was happy and she didn't need anything or anyone to make her feel complete.
As Lauren leaped her self and flicked her wrist the ball flew into the basket with a clean swoosh.
Clapping was then heard from behind her. "Amazing as always Laur I'm so proud of you ya know that?" She came face to face with her dad who looked at her with a giddy smile.
"Thanks coach" Lauren smiled bouncing the basketball a few more times before scoring at the free throw line. Her dad chuckled.
"We're not at school you can call me dad now lauren" Lauren giggled. "Sorry..dad" he nodded."Much better now-" he took the basketball from Laurens arms.
"What are you doing here?" She furrowed her eyebrows in confusion."sh-shooting the ba-" Mike cut her off.
"That's not what I meant" he threw the ball this time making it spin around the rim before entering the basket. Lauren sighed.
"I don't know I just-" Mike scoffed. "Come on kiddo you won't be in highschool forever and you'll have plenty of time to shoot some hoops" Lauren shrugged.
"I don't even have anything to wear so-" Suddenly Laurens mom appears out of the blue. "The hell you do!" She kisses Lauren on the forehead.
"I knew you'd say that, which is why I bought a new outfit for you" Clara said holding up a nice pair of jeans, a black shirt and some combat boots.
Lauren smiled. "Thanks Mom thanks Dad I love you guys!" She said and embraced her mother. "Of course mè niña now go have fun at that party of yours!" Clara yelled as Lauren jogged out of the gym with her clothes into her home and headed straight for the shower.
Meanwhile,
On a couch lay a very nerdy and talented young girl by the name of Camila who was reading a book. She was so smart. She pulled up her glasses that we're gliding down the bridge of her nose with her index finger.
She absolutely loved to read and was amazed everytime she learned something new. She was curious and clumsy but her mom was always super proud of her, and Camila knew deep inside that her dad would be too if he were to still be here.
About four months ago her dad was diagnosed with cancer at a later stage. It was too late and he died a few weeks after. Her family lived there because of her dad's job but now her and her mother we're on their own so they moved closer to family which forced Camila into moving schools.
