Brittany's POV:

"She's fucking crazy!" I yelled to Tai and Em as I paced in Tai's room.

"She doesn't know anything," Em rolled her eyes, but Tai punched her. Not in the arm or leg either, but square in the face. And hard.

"She DOES know. She isn't stupid," Tai shook her hand before she stood and paced also. "She's not stupid," she said this time more to herself than anyone else. Em sat on the bed, cradling her jaw, and watching Tai closely.

"She wasn't supposed to die," I whispered

"No duh! What the fuck did we do?" Em said, standing. Her jaw was bright red, showing signs of swelling already too.

"We did the world a favor, One less freak," Tai replied. Goosebumps rose on my skin. What did I just get into?

"We covered our tracks. Tai, your dad is a cop! We're fine!!" I said. The girls began to calm. The pacing ceased.

"School starts back tomorrow. Everyone will forget about this," Tai said

"Exactly," I smiled, attempting to hide my uncertainty.

Mandy's POV:

I pulled up my hood. I darted past people and acoided the sympathetic stares.

Almost.

"Mandy!" I stopped and looked up as Emily, Tailor, and Brittany stood around me.

"We're so very sorry about Mindy's untimely death," Tailor said. I cringed at her name. They took notice.

"Yeah, Tai is right. Mindy was so sweet," Emily said

"And we'll never forget how pretty. Remember Britt? Remember how pretty Mindy was?" Tailor said

"Yes, I'll always remember our good times. All the warm days on the beach," she smiled. They all did.

I see the evil in their eyes. I hear the lies behind their grins.

Britt with pay the price, for betraying me.

I walked away from them. I didn't speak a word. They're playing with fire now. And who am I to deny what they're asking for, right?

Now, I plan.

Brittany's POV:

"Did you see her face?" Em laughed

"Yeah, she was totally about to cry!" Tai giggled.

"Yeah, she could not have been more pathetic," Em said. Tai nodded. I continued painting my nails.

"We should see how far we can push," Em suggested. Tai agreed.

"Totally," I blew my nails

"But not too far," Tai warned, "she's obviously unstable. God only knows what she'd try," she shuddered.

"And don't be overly obvious about what really happened. She already suspects us. We've got to be smart," I warned in a serious voice. They nodded, looking afraid suddenly.

"Of course! And let's all swear, no matter what happens not one of us will breathe a word. Not a word," Tai instructed.

"We swear," Em and I said

"Good, and so do I," she smiled and we went on with our gossip. Like all was normal. Like we didn't kill a girl three days ago. Like we weren't planning on toturing her mourning sister. We were the freaks.

We were the unstable ones, and each of us knew it.

Mandy's POV:

I waited until 4 o'clock. She finally came out of the building, her curly blonde hair bouncing in the April breeze. I hated her. But I calmed myself enought to execute my plan. I smirked when I saw her swollen jaw. I swear Tailor did it. I watched from the corner of the parking lot in the shade of some old oaks. She waved goodbye to Tailor and Brittany and began to walk home in the opposite direction. I moved with a quickness I didn't know I posessed. Once she took a left down Waller street I cut between the antique shop and the bridal store. She stopped dead in her tracks when she saw me. Her eyes looked for safe harbor but she knew better than to turn and run. It would only bring unwanted attention. So she kept walking

"What's up?" she tried to sound casual but the way she hugged her books to her chest I could tell she was filled to the brim with fear. I liked it.

"Nothin' really. Just trying to do a little detective work," I shrugged as I fell in step with her.

"I see," she cleared her throat. I could feel her willing me away. "How's it going?" she asked

"Pretty good actually, I got some good information," I grinned.

"How much do you know?" she asked, pushing me against a brick wall. Not in a threatening way, but a frightened one.

"Enough to know you didn't get that bruise playing around," I shrugged. She looked away and put a hand to her purple jaw.

"I don't know what you're talking about," she said, looking down and to the right. Liar.

"Bullshit. I also know that this," I pulled out a needle with a brownish/yellow tint to it, "looks very familiar," I smirked as I saw her sweat. Her eyes searched again for help, but there was none.

"No one to call for help," I giggled, swinging the needle. "Your mom had plenty of these laying around. Quite the junkie, your mother is," I deadlocked our eyes.

"You broke into my house?!" She whisper yelled.

"You killed my sister, I figured it was only even," I smirked

"Leave me alone!" she whsiper yelled again.

"Tell me what happened," I said, taking a step nearer to her.

"God, you freak! You really are crazy," she said, attempting bravery and failing abysmally.

"That's cute. But I think a freak is someone that played a part in a death, and acts like nothing happened," I said, twirling the needle one more time.

"Okay! We did it! But it wasn't supposed to kill her, I swear. We just wanted to start a rumor, humiliate her a bit. Maybe get her in trouble with the cops so she didn't come back after holiday. Atleast that's what I was told. But that doesn't all line up, does it? Using chloroform to knock her out and shoot her with heroin? All for a rumor? Tai is lying to me. She had her own vendetta against Minday. I don't know why, I swear!" she said. I blinked.

"Who brought up the boardwalk?" I asked

"Brittany," she answered quickly. My stomach dropped.

Brittany knew about the rising tide! She knew!!

"I want you," I said, poking the needle at her arm, "to go talk to Tai's dad. Tell him something fishy is going on with Brittany and Tai. Do it or I swear to God," I poked her harder, nearly splitting flesh. SHe began to sweat, and tears welled in her eyes, "I'll do to you what you did to my sister," she swallowed hard. I then added "If you don't come through... You will pay the price for betraying me," I backed away from her, and she turned around, back towards Tailor's house.

It was funny. The needle was full of apple juice. What a good girl that one is.

Loyal. Like a puppy.
