Chapter Four

Frantically searching through my closet, for a third time this night, I finally find something!  It is a cute blue tank top that has black beads around the collar, it’s tight on the chest, and loose on the stomach. It’s perfect! I find a pair of white shorts to wear with it, and a pair of converse in the exact same color as the shirt.

The outfit seems not too dressy, but not too casual for my date with the oh-so-mysterious Nick! I especially appreciate that the top is loose on my stomach. I’m not super fat, I know that. But I am far from skinny. I could definitely spare to lose thirty pounds quick.

I go examine myself in the mirror one last time; this Friday night came so fast. I don’t know if I am ready to see Austin with Cymphonie, but I had agreed to go.

My dark brown hair falls halfway down my back and is loosely curled at the ends. It took me forever to grow it out, but I’m glad I did! My pale skin makes my hazel eyes seem to stand out so much that I fight the urge to close them and cry. My features aren’t soft and pretty, they are dramatic and almost overbearing I think.

The doorbell rings and I take one final glance. Well this is as good as it’s ever going to get. With that I head down the stairs and open the door. Cymphonie’s bright smiling face greets me, and before I can even say hello she has my wrists and is dragging me to the driveway.

“Tonight is going to be so much fun! Nick is a total hottie! You’ll love it” She whispers as we near a car. As my eyes adjust to the dark, I notice that there are two cars in my drive way each with a tall boy standing near it. I can’t believe that there are two red 2012 corvettes in my driveway right then. I beam at the cars and then I notice both boys staring at me.

“Hey, I’m Nick.” It was the most sonorous voice I have ever heard. “You’re name is Sam, right?”

“Yes.” I breath the word out, trying not to choke. Even in the dark I can see Nick’s strong body build. He has large biceps, huge pectorals, and I’m positive the boy had a six pack under his shirt. He looks as if he were taken out of a magazine and chiseled out just for me.

“It’s nice to meet you! “  I look over to Austin; he is holding Cymphonie’s hand but is staring directly at me. I blush and turn away. I hope Cymphonie doesn’t notice that he’s staring at me.

“Shall we go?” Cymphonie practically sings the words. She is so excited. All week she has been telling me about the cute texts that Austin has been sending her, I fought so hard to hide my jealousy. Austin is Cymphonie’s, not mine.

I walk to the corvette that Nick is closer to, he opens the passenger door and I climb in. I really wasn’t expecting us to be going in different cars. Cymphonie should have warned me, I agreed to come so I could see Austin, not so I could be alone with someone I don’t know!

Nick climbs in the car just as Austin and Cymphonie pull out of the driveway.

“So what are we doing tonight?” I ask trying to be polite. I don’t want to make him feel awkward by my shyness. I will not go into my shell tonight.

“It’s a surprise” Lovely. I hate surprises.

The car finally comes to a stop. The car ride wasn’t horrible, but I didn’t seem to have much to say to Nick. Which was fine, I don’t have much to say to anyone. I just wish that his personality was as good as his looks.

I open my door and look around to see that they brought us to the fair. I love fairs! There are so many cool booths, great food, and awesome rides. Austin comes directly to me and oddly Cymphonie goes straight to Nick.
