Last January, many young woman and men came out about their story of being sexually abused by a doctor. Many, as young teenagers, did not feel comfortable about speaking out about the multiple times that the doctor sexually abused them. When such things happen, we see children often do not feel comfortable speaking out. In The Kite Runner we see Hassan drastically change after Assef abuses him and he chooses not to tell anyone but a trusted adult who hapoens to be Rahim Khan. With the doctor, it was an adult who abused vulnerable children and in The Kite Runner it was Assef who abused Hassan considering he was stronger but in both occurrences children were harmed because of their vulnerability. How common do you believe it is for things like this to happen?
