PROLOGUE
"...because if loving someone of the same gender is against the laws, then loving you would be the most beautiful crime I am more than willing to take." Jungkook confessed as he stares at the camera with the most melancholic smile he has ever yet to unveil. He forced himself to laugh out of his melodrama, thinking Jimin could have softly hit him by the arms if he was with him, followed by his childlike giggles, and there the bitter cognizance of reality once again stricken him, realizing how impossible it is for Jimin to still be there by his side after everything.
"Remember how I once have promised, I'd rewrite the stars for you? How I'd rewrite the stars for us and make you mine for the taking? And how you laughed saying how dreamy it was to hear, but you promised back that you'll wait 'til I can make that happen?"
Every memory of him with Jimin slowly flashbacks right before his eyes in like a never-ending lifelike vista. He could no longer carry on with what he wanted to say further, and how his voice almost broke made him look more vulnerable. His tears starting to stream down his cheeks, not even knowing in prior. He was such a mess in front of the camera.
Everyone in the studio is staring at him, even the interviewer with him, too hesitant whether to still continue with the interview or just end it but he insists and tried to smile to them, a prompt trying to tell them he's fine even if it's the exact contrary to his actual state as of the moment.
He needs to do this. The only thing he could do for the both of them before everything ends. If they both couldn't carry out the pledges they've made for each other—the solemn promises of eternity, of love, and of togetherness —if they couldn't make those come true, this is the least thing Jungkook could do. The thing he swore to Jimin he'll do once their career ends, once they disband. To proudly reveal to the whole world the real score between them, willing to take the risk of being criticized by the public for the sake of love. And here he is now, trying to make it up to Jimin even if he knows he's too late.
Here he is, telling the whole world of how one lucky bastard he is to love and to be loved by a beautiful man named Park Jimin, even if he knows that in just a week ahead, Jimin's going to exchange vows with the person he's about to spend the rest of his life with through ups and downs, through the good times and the bad times, and only death can tear them apart. Just a week ahead this very day, Jimin is about to get married to the person whom he'll cherish with his utmost affection 'til his last breath.
And Jungkook could have been that person. Probably the most dolorous thing right now could be that he'll have to spend the rest of his life, regretting why he didn't. Why he couldn't.
"It's only then that I've realized it took me so long to make that happen, to defy the odds and defend you and our love at all cost, to make our hopes and dreams of us come true, you must have waited for a long time you lost your credence on our love and had enough, and now I've eventually lost you.
"But even so, if this is how it all ends for the both of us, I'll let the entire public know how there once was us, too immersed in our own delusions, believing someday all those will come to reality, that no matter what it takes, we know love will conquer it all. I'll let the whole world know you'll always be that man I have loved since then and will always love the most 'til the day I die. Just like how I promised you once our course ends."
