"We will now be landing in Transylvania, Romania" a female flight attendant voiced over the plane's intercom. Once the plane landed, passengers hurriedly got to their feet and crowded into the aisle to obtain their luggage. Off to the side, still sitting in her seat was Juliet Daniels, a young writer who had decided to visit Transylvania to find inspiration for her next novel. After everyone else had scampered off the plane with their heavy bags and suitcases, Juliet had taken the chance to go into the aisle and grab her bags from the compartment over the seat she was in. As she unloaded her bags from the shelf, she decided to call her fiancé, Lionel Stewart.
"Hello?" Lionel said, picking up on the other end of the line.
"Hey, Lionel. I just landed in Transylvania."
"That's great, I hope you're not to jet lagged to find a hotel to stay at" he joked.
"I'm already ahead of it. I booked a reservation at a local hotel here and for the next ten months, I'll have nothing but my novel to work on." She finally slung her back pack over her shoulders and gripped the handle of her suitcase. "I've got to get off this plane now, I'll call you when I reach the hotel, okay?"
"Okay."
"Love you babe."
"I know, bye." She sighed as Lionel hung up shortly after. She staggered down the aisle, and out of the plane.
After making it to a bench outside the airport exit, she placed her luggage on the ground next to her and called a taxi service to get a cab. After twenty five minutes of waiting, the cab was still not there. "Excuse me, madam." She turned to see a tall, pale man standing under a wide umbrella look down at her. He had a friendly smile, and ruffled blonde hair, with bangs that slightly covered his small widow's peak. His eyes shined a light blue color, and he wore a dark, formal suit.
"Hello. Can I help you?" She asked, looking up at him.
"I should be asking you that very question" he smiled. His Transylvanian accent was thick. "Would you like a ride?"
"Oh, no I'm fine, my cab just hadn't shown up yet."
"It would be no trouble to drive you to your desired location, madam. I assure you that it would be my pleasure to assist you in my services." She looked around for the cab once more before turning back to the man.
"On second thought, I'd love a ride." He smiled, showing a little bit of his pearly white teeth.
"Before we leave, I should introduce myself" the man replied. He then took her hand. "I am Vladimir Dracul, it is lovely to meet your acquaintance." He then kissed the top of her hand, before smiling softly at her. Juliet smiled, impressed by his charm and etiquette.
"I'm Juliet Daniels. It's great to meet you as well." Vladimir then motioned his hand in the direction of a long black limo.
"I shall have my servant take your bags for you. Cornel!" He called, and a short man wearing a formal suit with white gloves like a butler exited from the limo and approached them.
"Let me take those for you, miss." The butler then took Juliet's bags as she handed them over and scurried to the back of the limo where he placed her luggage in the trunk. The small man then stood by the limo door. Vladimir then turned to Juliet.
"Shall we leave, madam?" He asked, extending his arm to her. She smiled slightly and hesitantly took his arm.
"Yes." The two then walked to the limo doors where Cornel opened one of the doors and waited for the two to climb in. After Juliet and Vladimir were seated, he shut the door and hurried to the driver's seat. Vladimir turned to Juliet, folding up his umbrella.
"To where would you like to go, Ms. Daniels?"
"The local hotel, I'm staying there while I'm on my visit."
"And for how long are you visiting?"
"About ten months or so."
"Then Ms. Daniels, I forbid you to stay in such a unsatisfying place as the local hostel. If you would, I'd like you to stay in my humble abode during your visit."
"But I barely know you, Mr. Dracul."
"Then spend the day with me, I will show you the sights of this mystical place."
"I don't know...I..."
"Please, Ms. Daniels.." He began, taking her by the hand, looking into her eyes. "I am no stranger, but instead a gentlemen to those I meet. If you stay with me, I shall tend to your needs and supply to your interests. As my guest, you would be living comfortably and would be able to know me as the man I have become. Please come with me." Juliet hesitated, knowing that going off with a stranger who now seemed to be more of an acquaintance could be dangerous, she decided.
"You're very kind, Mr. Dracul. I will stay with you. But believe me, Mr. Dracul, it will take me some time to get to know you."
"Of course, Ms. Daniels." He turned and instructed Cornel. "La castel, Cornel" he demanded in Romanian. He smiled back at Juliet. "Welcome to Transylvania."
