I heard a noise. I sat up from my futon and looked at the clock on the wall. 4 am.

I heard coughing and immediately lit a candle.

He was awake.

Armin was awake, sitting up, coughing.
"Armin!" I yelled with relief, patting his back. He looked around and noticed all these machines he was connected to, the stitches across his stomach and the beeping of the heart monitor.
"E-Eren? Wh-what is all this?" He asked me, shaking.

I saw his catheter bag start to fill. He's absolutely terrified. I thought to myself, I felt so bad for him. I started tearing up, pulling my best friend into my arms and holding him tightly.

"You don't need to be scared. I've got you. You're safe with me." I stroked his hair and cradled him gently.
"E-Eren.. wh-where's my c-clothes? What's a-all this stuff in-n m-me?" I felt him shaking and clinging onto me, he was so damn scared, I just wanted to make him feel safe.

"It's alright, it's just there to help you... you were really hurt..." I tried to explain everything to him the best I could but I was caught up crying tears of relief.

He pulled away from me and looked at himself. "I can't move with all this stuff connected to me..."
"I know Armin, but you need it..."
"Why don't I have any clothes on?"
"Your clothes were getting in the way, the doctor took them off."

"What's that?"
"What's what?"
"That thing in me."
"What thing?"
"The thing."
"Armin, you're going to have to be a little more specific. There's about seven things you're connected to right now."
"The thing in my thing."

I chuckled softly and he struggled to express himself.
"The thing down there."
I assumed he was inquiring about the catheter.
"It's there so you can pee without getting out of bed. Don't worry about it."
"I-It's in my pee hole." I came to the conclusion that the sedative he was given hadn't quite worn off yet, and so Armin's thinking ability had been temporarily disabled.

"That's the point, Armin." I laughed quietly as he continued to say adorably stupid things.
"Do you have one?"
"No."
"Why?"
"Because I don't need one."
"Oh."
"Yeah."

"Do you have a pee hole?" I could help but chuckle at the awkward conversation we were having, I couldn't wait to tease him about it once the anaesthesia wore off.
"Everyone has a pee hole, Armin."
"Do you have an asshole?"
"Okay, I think it's time you lay down and stopped talking."

He lay there, staring at the ceiling.
"Eren?"
"Yeah?"
"Can I say something?"
"Is it crude?"
"No."
"Then go ahead."

"I love you."

I blushed and my heart began to flutter. "I love you too, Armin."

I felt like making this chapter somewhat funny so...

Funny story, when I was six I had anaesthesia and I heard a buzzing sound and I was crying because I thought there was a bee in my oxygen mask.
