"LA PIETA: A Mother's Distress"
By: Eleutheromania

"There's nothing more painful than a mother's mourning unto her son's death"

A horrifying place stained with blood wherein a lifeless man with different gun shot wounds is holding a gun with his right hand and drug paraphernalias lying beside him. The half of its body lies on the floor while a woman who's screaming her heart out is gently carressing the strands of his hair while hugging him so tight and murmurring prayers as if it can make the person who ceased to think to be alive once again is such a painful scenario to watch.

Realization strikes that the described scenes became very common or usual nowadays because of the extrajudicial killings and the continued fight of government against illegal drugs.

MOTHERS -- they are the ones who suffered so much anguish for seeing how their beloved, happened to be in the place wherein they were killed intentionally without explaining their sides.  Seeing the person who's a huge part of you is lying peacefully, covered with blood in different parts of body will greatly tear her heart into many pieces. It made her lose the way of living and feels incomplete for losing the half of her life.

A mother is a woman who became the happiest person after knowing that she's pregnant. Someone who survived 9 months of carrying a baby inside her womb inspite of morning sickness and hormonal imbalance. The one who was put into danger and experienced extreme pain while delivering the child, but cried because of bliss once she finally hold the blessing who came from above. She's person who took good care from the beginning of a new life until he first speak. The word "Ma" that he said which amused her for hearing such a word like it seems to be a music in her ears. Served as guidance from the first roll, crawl and walk until the first time you went to school. She's the one who provided everything until he learned to become independent.

Now tell me, who are you to take away a mother's only joy with just a click of a gun?

Are you able to sleep peacefully knowing that someone is longing for a hug of her son?

It is true that drugs greatly ruin once life and also the people around its user. But, isn't it the killings greatly violate human rights? Think deeply upon it.

A mother's distress breaks the heart of everyone. Can you feel it?
