Cops and Robbers

Chap. 4

I swing open the door to Jamie's Pizza shop with a wide smile. My heart is fluttering in my chest as my eyes search the space full of tables.

I spot Quin at a table for two on the right near the large window, just as he said he would be.

I stroll over to him and slide into the seat in front of him. Once he sees me, his lips pull up into a wide smile. "Hey stranger."

I laugh lightly. "Hey you."

"I don't see my delivery of an Extra large pizza with two toppings." He teases with a raised brow. His hands are resting on the table as he leans forward.

I roll my eyes with a small smile. "I'm not a delivery girl."

"Hmm. What do you do then?" He asks, curiosity shining through his deep, blue eyes.

"I'm an aspiring writer." I answer confidently with a smile. As much as I want to tell people I'm a secret agent, I can't or else the whole secret thing wouldn't work.

"What do you do?" I ask with curiosity lacing mu voice.

"I'm an engineer at BlockStack." He answers swiftly, running his hands through his hair.

I nod, taking that in. Suddenly my stomach growls and I send Quin a sheepish smile. "I'm hungry, you?"

He nods and straightens his posture before getting up. "I'll go order, which toppings?"

"Any, doesn't matter." I answer while gazing up at him. He nods before walking up to the counter.

I take this time to check him out. Today he's wearing a red Champions sweatshirt paired with black ripped jeans. His blondeish-brown hair is slightly messy but it makes him look hot.

He returns a few moments later with a medium sized pizza box in his hands. I take it from him and the hot steam warms my hands. The delicious cheesy scent wafting from the box makes my stomach growl louder.

We waste no time and dig in. I relish the taste on my tongue and hum in pleasure. "This is heaven." I conclude with a dreamy sigh.

Quin chuckles with a full mouth. "Its delicious."

Three slices and a whole lot of conversation later, I feel as if I'm about to burst. Quin looks the same.

"We should head home now?"  I ask doubtfully. I glance outside, it's almost nine now and it's getting dark outside.

Quin nods, his deep blue eyes shining. "I had fun today. We should get together again." He tells me with a shy smile.

My lips spread widely. "For sure." I answer.

"See you." He tells me with a quick kiss on my cheek. I watch him stroll out of the door with admiration. My cheek tingles where his soft lips met my skin. I find myself wanting to be near him again already.

I quickly clean up and head to my car. I desperately need my sleep.

I walk to my house's doorstep only to find my bestfriend waiting for me on the porch. When she spots me, her blue eyes grow wide.

"Where have you been?!"

"I was out. With a dude." I tell her while I jiggle the keys in the lock. I hear a satisfactory pop and swing open my door. The warmth of my home instantly comforts me.

I shut the door behind Zoya and lead her towards my living room. The walls are an off white and the floor is wooden and covered with a large, plush, grey carpet. There's a long, black couch along the right wall thats covered with blankets and pretty pillows. There's a big, black flatscreen tv on the left. The wall ahead of me has a big sliding, glass door that leads to my backyard. I cover it with curtains and we plop ourselves down on the couch.

"Ooh, details." Zoya demands, clapping her hands.

I fill her in on how Quin and I met and the events of today.

"He seems totally adorable!" She exclaims, excitement bouncing off her. "You should keep him. Also, I want to meet him."

I roll my eyes with a smile. "If things get any further."

"They will." She answers confidently.

"Let's watch some Suits," I say, changing the subject. She complys with a shrug before sauntering off into my kitchen to find some snacks. I switch on the t.v with a sigh.

Quin, oh Quin, why can't I stop thinking about you?
