Chapter 3- Sacrifice

I walked down the hall and heard Xion yelling at Axel.
"... You could have killed him!! He's our best friend!"
"I didn't mean to, Xion! I'm telling the truth, it was a Heartless. Please, you gotta believe me!"
"Well, I don't. I'm gonna make sure Roxas is never put at risk like that again. I'm talking to Saïx right now to make sure that you're banned from any kind of contact with him."
I stormed through the door. "Guys, stop arguing, please!!"
"Oh, so now you're on his side, even though he almost murdered you?"
"I said I was sorry!!" Cried Axel.
"Xion... I think maybe you should listen to him."
She refused. And left the room.
Axel looked at me with tears in his eyes. "Roxas, I-"
I pressed my lips to his, and felt him calm down. "It doesn't matter. It wasn't your fault. Fucking Heartless."
"You... Believe me?"
"Yes, I do. I went to talk to Vexen and he explained everything. I'm sorry for saying that I don't trust you, Axel."
He held my hands. "Just know that I would never do anything to hurt you deliberately. I'm so glad you're alive."
We hugged for a while, and then someone knocked on the door.
"Hey, Axel? Are you in there? I tried to talk to Roxas for you, man."
Demyx walked in the room and saw us cuddling. "Oh. I see you've made up? So you're back together?"
I decided that this was my chance to joke around a little. "I don't know about that right now."
"But Roxas..." Said Axel.
"Sheesh, Ax. I was just kidding."

We walked out into the kitchen to get some ice cream. "We should get some for Xion too." I said, and we did. We went out to find her, and saw her sitting at our spot on the tower.
"Ice cream, my friend?"
She looked behind her to see me and Axel.
"Oh. Did you guys make up?" She asked.
"Yeah," I said, smiling,
Xion just looked at me and threw the ice cream at my face. "I can't believe you, Roxas. How can you trust him?"
"Because Vexen told me-" I began
"And what if Vexen is hiding the real truth?"
"Xion, please," said Axel, trying to help me reason with her.
"Oh, Roxas," she cried, and forced her lips against mine. I didn't like this at all. I mean, sure, Xion was pretty and all, but I didn't have feelings for her. I belonged to one person only.
I tried to escape her grip but she was surprisingly strong for a girl. Suddenly I felt someone pull me from behind and rescue me from the kiss.
"What the hell, Xion?! Why did you do that?!" I yelled, furious with her.
"Why can't you see that you should have chosen ME over him? I'm not vicious. I would never, ever hurt you. And I bet anything that my kiss was better than any kiss Axel has ever given you."
This made Axel walk away.
"Wait! Where are you going?" I shouted.
"Make up your mind, Roxas," she whispered, "Before it's too late."
"Fine," I said smoothly. "I choose Axel."
