I'm insane.

That's all I could think about as I threw my bag out my window for Connor to catch. He was laughing like a maniac, not being able to control his laughter.

"Shut up, disphit! You're going to get us caught." I whispered as quietly as I could from a second floor.

He was still laughing, groaning once I threw him another bag to catch and put in the trunk.

"You know, if I wasn't ecstatic for what's about to happen I would've just left with your stuff for calling me a dipshit." I rolled my eyes as he kept laughing gleefully.

"You couldn't leave me, I've got all the gas money." A smile crossed my face as I saw him laugh harder at my reply.

"Touché, Elliot, touché." He chuckled.

I went back to my little desk, and grabbed my last bag. I stuffed in the last of my things, looking at my now half empty room. I was going to miss this place, it's been my home for almost five years now. But at the same time, I despised these four walls and couldn't be more glad to leave. I looked around at my posters and my open drawers, reminiscing about all the time I've spent here, good and bad.

It wasn't long until I got interrupted, Connor could never spend five minutes alone by himself.

A loud shriek resonated my ears, followed by loud barking. Duggar.

I looked out the window and there he was. Duggar on his chain, barking at Connor, who seemed pale as a ghost and as he clutched my bag on the ground. I looked around in panic. This was surely going to wake up Miss Helen.

As if on cue, I heard her.

"What on earth is going on?" She screamed groggily, obviously woken up by the barking.

I looked through the window at Connor, who was just in panic as I.

"Wait a second, just let me go down the stairs." I screamed, no point in whispering now.

"Are you crazy?" Connor screamed back. "You'll get caught again. You need to jump!"

I stared at him in disbelief. I didn't even have my shoes on.

"Are you insane?" I yelled. "I could die!"

"Elliot, why are you screaming?" I heard Helen shout from downstairs.

"I'll- I'll catch you, just jump! We don't have much time!" He stammered and put his arms out.

"Elliot, do you know the person who's out there?"

Oh God. I can't believe I'm considering this. I'm insane. Why did I ever agree to this? Oh my God.

I approached my window with my backpack in hand. It was only two stories, the most that could happen is I sprain my ankle. Or fall to my eternal doom.

I went with it, nonetheless. I was one leg out the window when Helen started to knock on my door.

"Elliot, open up! Did you sneak somebody up in your room?"

Actually, they're helping me sneak out.

"That's it, Elliot. I'm opening up!"

And then, time froze. Helen was jiggling her keys, Duggar was barking and Connor was screaming for me to just jump. It all went by in slow motion, and I couldn't sort my thoughts out. It all just seemed like I was up for my downfall, again. So I did what I would've never done with my sanity in place.

I closed my eyes, crossed my fingers and I jumped.

I landed with a thud, on top Connor, who -thankfully- cushioned my fall and didn't let me die.

Helen looked out the window, and I had never felt so much fear. I wasn't going to get caught. Not right now. I had come so far.

"Run!" I screamed, getting up and rushing, Connor close behind me.

We sprinted. We sprinted like our lives depended on it. I didn't even look back at the house. I didn't look back at all. Helen's screams were nothing now, just a small, faded sound that meant nothing to me. The car was already started, and I got in the passenger's seat, throwing my things in the backseat while Connor closed the trunk and got in.

"Oh my god!" I laughed once I saw we were speeding through the streets. "That was so amazing!" Now I was the ecstatic one.

I can't believe this. We did it. We just ran away.
