The revving of a car engine snapped Fuyuhiko out of his love struck trance, causing him to tilt his head back to see who the fuck was being so obnoxious.
There, parked right in the street, stood a sleek black car that looked as if it came out of an action movie. Quite impressive.
Inside a tall figure could be seen, but the tinted purple windows only allowed them to see his outlines. The figure in the car eventually rolled down his window, revealing a hispanic man wearing dark black shades, and he bore a goatee.
"Looks like our ride is here.." Peko said, pointing out the obvious.
"Yep, but his arrival was fuckin' obnoxious." Fuyuhiko scoffed.
They walked side by side to the car, both of them deciding to sit in the back.
The inside of the car was quite the opposite of the outside, littered with fast-food wrappings and bottles of soda, all of which were practically half full. Peko carefully stepped over the junk and trash and plopped herself in the seat to the far right.
Not only did the car look dirty, but it smelt like cigarettes and booze. Peko was definitely going to have to stay on her toes around this stranger.
"So did you guys run away to get married or something," the guy asked teasingly.
"No, just shut the fuck up and drive. I ain't paying ya for yapping," Fuyuhiko said harshly, the guy's question had clearly made him flustered.
...........
Soon they arrived at an apartment complex, and since it was already pretty dark outside, the building was mostly lit up. Her eyes went from the window of the car to Fuyuhiko, who was handing the strange guy who had driven us some money.
They both stepped out of the car, accidentally knocking some of the trash out of it as they did so. Both of them turned to the trunk, each grabbing a bag of luggage. Peko slung her own bag over her shoulder, along with her sword, and carried another bag of luggage that Fuyuhiko had brought. Speaking of which, he also grabbed two bags of luggage. After a spout of pleading with Fuyuhiko to let her carry all of it, which he ended up not allowing, they shut the trunk. With that done, they began to head towards the buildings.
"Like I said, i've been planning this shit for a while.." he said as he pulled out a pair of keys from his pocket, tossing them to Peko while smirking. He was probably very proud of his plan.
Peko held up the keys in the light, trying to get a better look. They were both silver, each had "22B" written on them.
"I had that guy pick them up for us, a key for you and a key for me," he stated, taking one of the keys from Peko's hand and shoving it into his pant pocket.
......
This was it. This was their new life. She turned her head to the apartments, looking for 22B but not spotting it.
Instead, Fuyuhiko just grabbed her hand, pulling her along assumingly to their apartment. Fuyuhiko carried a bag of luggage in his other hand and a bag was slung over his shoulder as well.
It really wasn't necessary for him to be holding her hand, she could of easily followed, yet for some reason this seemingly simple gesture made her blush..
They made their way to the far back of the apartments and stood in front of their new home. Thankfully, they were upstairs, and nobody was below them either, so noise wasn't going to be a problem. She sighed thankfully, it would be hard to train if the people below her kept complaining about the noise. Still holding Peko's hand, he walked up the stairs, putting the baggage on the floor so he could take the key out of his pocket. He reached the wooden door and stuck it into the keyhole, opening the door.
As the door swung open with a bit of a creek, a cute little apartment revealed itself. There was a small living room, containing a couch and a tv, Peko assumed it got there from the guy that had driven them.
She looked down to her hand then back at Fuyuhiko, asking for release.
"S-sorry.. I didn't realize I.. nevermind" Fuyuhiko stammered as he let go of Peko's hand, shoving it into his pocket. Peko put her bags of luggage on the floor. "It's ok," she stated as she went off to wander around the little apartment.
As she walked through the living room, she realized that a small kitchen was place right next to it, along with a small table, perfect size for the two of them. Along with the table, there was also a fridge, and some pots and pans laying on the counter, along with some cups, utensils, and plates stacked up on the shelves.
From there, she made her way to the rooms. She opened the first door that was in the hallway, and it contained a small bathroom. The next door that was at the very end of the hallway was a room that to Peko seemed excessively large. Her room at the old house had been very small, so this was probably Fuyuhiko's room. The room contained one queen sized bed and a closet, along with an end table near the bed and a fluffy black chair in the corner of the room.
She glanced around outside of the room, but found no other doors. "Oh.." she said thoughtfully, assuming she must be having to sleep on the couch, which was of course fine with her. She walked back to the living room to find Fuyuhiko already unpacking some stuff. "Where should I put my stuff, Fuyuhiko?" Peko hoped there was some sort of closet where she could keep her stuff, but if there wasn't then that was no big deal. "Oh, you can set it in our room, there's also a closet in there so you can put some of your stuff in there if you need," Fuyuhiko stated as if it was obvious.
......
"...Our room?"
That question made Fuyuhiko stop what he was doing, standing in place and embarrassingly putting his head into his hands.
He gathered courage to look at Peko. "Well, uh.. Yeah, you didn't think you were sleeping on the couch did you..?"
"Actually, that was exactly what I thought. I wouldn't want to bother you with having to share a room. Plus, I only saw one bed.."
That last part only made Fuyuhiko more of a blushing mess, his whole face was red now.
"Y-yeah.. Uhm.. I just assumed.. Uh.." His eyes were darting everywhere, and he looked like a nervous wreck.
Peko let out a bit of a chuckle, it was funny seeing Fuyuhiko flustered, though she would never tell him that.
"D-don't fucking laugh at me..!"
That only made Peko laugh more.
This caused Fuyuhiko to erupt into laughter beside her, and they both became giggling messes.
After their laughing fit, they took all their stuff into their room, putting some pillows Fuyuhiko had packed onto the bed along with sheets and a comforter. He really had planned all of this out.
All of this sudden change and moving and unpacking had truthfully worn Peko out, and this new environment would take a lot to get used to. Peko took out a pair of pajamas she had packed and went to change in the bathroom while Fuyuhiko changed in the room.
Once they were both done, they both comically flopped onto the bed.
"I'm really glad you came with me Peko," Fuyuhiko said in between a yawn.
"I'm glad as well," Peko agreed, yawning in turn.
They both slipped under the comforters, laying their heads on the pillows, their backs turned to each other. This was definitely awkward, but Peko shouldn't complain. Fuyuhiko had taken her with him, and they were friends, this was nothing to be embarrassed about. Plus, when they were kids, they would share a bed often, so this was no different right?
The sounds of cars passing by felt somewhat soothing, and eventually the two of them fell into a deep slumber. They were in a safe place now, and Peko was free. Free from holding back emotions.
They were free together.
