how did things turn out this way?

I could still here the faint ringing in my ears and the distant sirens from the emergency services. Apart from that, everything seemed like a blur of darkness...

The bluenette slowly opened his eyes, only to half shut them again, squinting at the bright light from the sun which was pouring into the room. Groaning slightly at the light, he pulled the covers over his head. A faint chuckle sounded from beside him, and then a hand gently ran through his short blue hair, messing it up more. "Good morning~" The other male's low yet sweet voice rang in Aoba's ear, making him turn over onto his other side, to peer up at the man sitting upright in the bed beside him. His dark navy hair lay messily over both shoulders, and his bangs were pushed back out of his face, revealing both of his warm red eyes, and the tattoos that marked the right side of his face. Smiling up at him lovingly, Aoba propped himself up onto his elbows, leaning up to press a gentle kiss against his lover's lips. "Morning, Koujaku," he replied, sleepily, as the other male reached down, cupping his cheeks with both hands and returned the kiss, deepening it slightly before pulling away. His signature grin was plastered onto his face, making Aoba's heart flutter, heat slightly rising to his cheeks. Koujaku laughed quietly at his reaction and gently pushed him down onto his back, moving so he was hovering over the smaller male. He planted a trail of sweet, gentle kisses, starting from his mouth, across his jaw, and then down his neck, causing Aoba to shiver under his touch, his own hands coming up to smooth his palm  over his bare shoulders and biceps. The older male smiled at this and gazed down lovingly into his hazel eyes, then gave his lips one last peck before standing up from the bed, with Aoba following his lead, throwing the covers off of himself and crawling out of bed. He hissed slightly in pain and massaged his hips. "Sore?" Koujaku asked, placing his larger hands over the bluenette's smaller ones. He nodded, glaring up at the older male slightly, causing him to laugh and hug his smaller frame again. "I'm sorry~ Guess I was a bit too rough last night," he apologised, placing a kiss on his already bruised and marked shoulder, earning a sigh and roll of eyes from the other. He wiggled out of his arms and made his way into the bathroom, beginning to get ready for the day.

"You have work today?" Koujaku asked as he fixed up his hair, tying it back into the usual side ponytail, but left his bangs pushed back. Nodding in response, Aoba smiled, admiring his face as the sunlight lit up his features beautifully. "Although, I'm only working until 3pm today so I'll be home early, leaving us the rest of the evening free!" He happily exclaimed as he pulled his dark blue jumper over his head, fixing the messy bed hair as well afterwards, letting it fall over his shoulders and covering the bruises that painted his neck. Koujaku hummed in reply, snaking his arms around the younger's waist and pulling his back close to his chest, only to push his face into his shoulder, sighing softly. "I'm going to be lonely without my Aoba here to keep me company and make me breakfast~" he whined teasingly, earning a laugh from the bluenette. "Hippo. I'm only going to be gone for 4 hours," Aoba lifted his hand and sent a gentle flick to his forehead. "I'll miss you too though," sighing, he turned his face slightly to kiss his cheek. He had forgotten that it was his day off today, and before Koujaku was able to remind him, Haga-san had already asked Aoba if it was okay for him to come in for a bit this day to help.

Koujaku slowly released his arms from around his waist and a small sigh escaped his lips. He turned around again and lifted his kimono which was draped over a chair, and pulled it on, whilst Aoba grabbed his bag and jacket. "Come on, Ren," He called out to the small allmate, who got to his feet and followed him out of the room and to the front door. Aoba jolted slightly as Koujaku, who had silently left the room as well, following behind both of them, reached forward and grabbed his chin, forcing his head round so their lips met, in a simple yet sweet kiss. "See you later," the ravenette smiled, caressing his cheek with the back of his hand. "I'll be home soon." He waved goodbye as he headed out the door, closing it behind him.

Upon arriving at the shop, Haga-san already had a parcel for the bluentte to deliver. He sighed slightly, as he had already walked for 15 minutes, but smiled, taking the parcel from him and heading back towards the door, quietly slipping out of the shop. The weather had taken a turn for the worst, and rain was starting to lightly fall. Aoba looked down at the address on the parcel, humming in thought for a few short moments before gently patting Ren's head which was buried in his bag. "Ren. What's the quickest way to this address?" The small allmate was silent for a few very brief moments as he worked out the routes. He lifted his head, looking up at his master. "Take the main street down near Black Needle, and take a right turn there and it isn't far from there," his deep voice finally spoke. Aoba smiled and started to head in the direction in which Ren had appointed him to, ruffling the fur on his head and smiling, "Thanks, Ren."

He sheltered the parcel on the inside of his coat and held one arm above his head to shelter his face and hair the best he could from the rain. It was quite busy in the streets, despite the weather. Many busy people roamed about, all with coats and umbrellas, and the usual buzz from the chattering people and cars still dominated the sound of the rain. He turned onto the main street of the city where there was a lot more people than usual. Probably because it was sunny at first, but now, people hurried about to take shelter or to catch transport. Aoba exhaled loudly, his breath now visible in the cold air, and a small shiver ran up his spine. "Damn..I really wish I brought an umbrella," he silently cursed to himself as the rain started to come down heavier. He pulled his hood up and grasped onto his bag as he started running to get to his delivery destination quicker

Whilst running, he accidently bumped into someone, which resulted in the package being knocked from his hands and onto the edge of the sidewalk. He quickly apologised to the person, then made his way over to where the package had landed, tripping in the process and falling right out onto the road. The bluenette scrambled to stand up again and quickly get off of the busy road. But as he finally regained his stance, everything seemed to slow down, the screeching of brakes sounded deafening in his ears, then everything turned dark, and his body was enveloped in pain, He wanted to scream, but nothing came out. The last thing he heard, was a faded voice calling his name, and a sharp ringing in his ears, as well as distant shouts and sirens, before his consciousness slowly slipped away from him.
