Koujaku sighed softly as he sat in the silence of his house, with only the gentle ticking of the clock and the soft pitter patter of rain outside to serve as some sort of company. He ran a hand through his long bangs and flicked the pages of the book he was currently reading, his eyebrows furrowed slightly. He had been looking forward to having his day off to spend with Aoba, and being able to sleep in late with him and then spend a full lazy day with him, yet here he was on his own in the silence of his own company. Beni lay in sleep mode on his lap, and so he didn't have the nagging of the small bird to listen to. Although everything seemed calm, Koujaku had a bad feeling, that something wasn't right, and he couldn't seem to put his finger on it. He hummed quietly to himself in thought for a few moments before getting up from the couch and starting up Beni.
"Yo Koujaku. Still sulking over Aoba not being here?" the allmate spoke up, causing the man to groan in response and make his way into the kitchen. "Well yeah, obviously, but I can't help but feel something isn't right... I don't know what it is, but I have a bad feeling," he mumbled, scratching the back of his head. "You always tend to worry about the tiniest of things, Koujaku. Just relax, everything is fine and will be fine," the bird perched on his shoulder and the red eyed man nodded in agreement, smiling. "Yeah, you're right," he sighed with slight relief, deciding to take Beni's words for granted. But, just as his worries started to fade, his coil rang, making him jump slightly from the sudden loud noise breaking the almost silence in the house. Assuming it was probably just Aoba asking something or a customer ringing to book an appointment, he answered the call.
"Hello? Is this Koujaku-san?"
Koujaku raised an eyebrow at the unfamiliar voice and checked the number, he didn't recognise it. "Yes it is. Who's asking?" He leaned against the counter, trying to think about who it could possibly be.
"This is Midorijima hospital. Mr..erm, Mr Seragaki has been in an accident, and we were told that you know him or are related to him? Would you be able to come straight away please?" The woman on the other end said.
Koujaku's eyes widened and he felt as though everything had stopped. The atmosphere around him felt cold and terrifying. His legs shook and a cold sweat swept over him. "W...What...?" His voice was quiet and broke slightly as he tried to speak. "I'm sorry sir, we'll explain as soon as you get here," she said before the call ended, leaving the dark haired man standing there frozen, trying to process what he had just been told.
'Is he okay?'
'What happened?'
'How long ago did it happen?'
'Is Aoba...alive?'
He quickly closed down his coil screen and stuffed Beni into the pocket of his jeans to stop him from getting wet from the rain outside. "Is Aoba okay?" His voice sounded again, to which the male just responded with a small shake of his head and a shrug. "I-I'm not sure...I hope so--don't know--We need to go-" He then quickly ran out of the house, not stopping once or remembering to bring an umbrella. He didn't care. Aoba was his first and only priority.
As he finally reached the hospital, he ran up to the reception desk and asked one of the receptionists where he was. The lady smiled,"Ah, you must be Koujaku-san then. He's being treated at the moment. But sit in the waiting room on the 4th floor please, there'll be a doctor to come speak to you shortly." It was the same lady from the call. He nodded in thanks as she spoke and then turned around and headed up the stairs to the 4th floor.
Once he reached the right floor, he walked down the corridors, frantically looking about for the bluenette. "Aoba?" he called out, panic taking over him quickly, "Aoba?!" A hand gently grabbed his shoulder and he snapped his head around to see a man with glasses and wearing a white coat. "Are you looking for Mr. Seragaki?" he asked, to which Koujaku frantically nodded his head. "Okay. Follow me please. I'm Doctor Nakamura," the man spoke as he led him down into a room, motioning for Koujaku to sit down, which he obliged to. The doctor shut the door and sat down opposite him. "A-Aoba. Is he oka-" The doctor raised his hand to pause him before he himself spoke, "Today at around 11:30am, paramedics were called out to the scene. It seems Mr Seragaki had fallen onto the road in attempt to grab something, and so was unfortunately hit by an oncoming van." The ravenette could practically feel his heart stop at his words. He gripped at the armrests and dropped his head down, "I-I-Is he..." The doctor shook his head, "He very fortunately survived. I'll take you in to see him now, but he still has not gained consciousness again since the accident, and we aren't sure when exactly he will. Although can I ask who you are to Mr Seragaki? And if he has any other relatives you could get in contact with as well?" he asked. "I'm his partner..and yes, his granny, I'll contact her, b-but can I see him first...?" The red eyed man asked as the doctor stood up. "Of course, and don't worry, we'll contact her for you if you'd like. We'll just need her contact info," the doctor smiled and then led Koujaku out of the room and over to a door to another room. "Okay. Here," he wrote down Tae-san's number and handed it to the doctor, who bowed in thanks and apology, before leaving him.
Koujaku took a deep breath and then slowly opened the door, taking a few steps in and closing the door behind him. He could hear the faint beeping of a heart monitor, and then there he was, his eyes closed, wires sticking out from his pale, fragile body. His heart wrenched at the sight, and he made his way over to the bed, gently placing his hand over his younger lover's. He was a lot paler than usual, his breath was raspy as he took small shallow breaths with the help of an oxygen mask, and there were small cuts covering his arms and cheeks. "A-Aoba..." the ravenette sat down beside the bed and lifted his hand, kissing it softly. "I'm so sorry..." Tears filled his eyes and he bit down on his bottom lip. He wanted to hear his voice again, see his bright hazel eyes gazing back into his own red ones. He reached over and gently brushed the backs of his fingers against his cheek. His eyelids didn't flutter, and he made no movement whatsoever.
'Please wake up soon...'
